    RIP Audi 80 2.8 Quattro

Well I finally decided to strip the old 80 down as no one wanted to buy it. Still a few small bits to do tomorrow but it will be on its way to the scrap metal place over the weekend I think.

i may have been interested in a rolling shell in about 2 months time, next time.

and it is such a shame to break a car but needs must, and it keeps other cars alive longer

If the pictures are of the car as it is now you should be removing more stuff

The interior wont sell, trust me mine hasnt.
Door lower rubber trim will sell.
Wings if not rusty will sell.
      Doors will sell.
The running gear is worth something.

I would have it as a rolling shell to but ive got to many cars as it is

I don't think I can keep it that long or I would have kept hold its already been sat there for 5 months. Just never got round to stripping it.

I have not quite finished yet just got the bulk of the interior out still need to take steering wheel, dash, carpet and loom out. Then I will move onto the engine for all the little plugs and stuff that could be useful might even chop the roll bar out. Thanks for the tips on the doors etc would have just left them on to be honest was going to strip all the motors out of them though even thought about keeping the glass.

I assume you are gunna strip out the suspension, brakes, diff, subframes? etc.
Little things like the grab handles are worth money if they have got lights in them.

To be honest I don't think I have the equipment or the technical knowledge to start stripping all that off the car I was going to try and get hold of some steels an leave it as a rolling shell and take it to the local scrap metal place and weigh the loom in separately.

I have kept all handles an interior panels that are not damaged and already nicked a few bits for my coupe

make sure you take the front calipers off it,they are worth more than any of the interior bits and they will actually sell. The seats will more than likely disintegrate before they sell

ecu/maf/isv/the various sensors off the engine are worth taking off aswell

I supose it depends on your circumstances/ technical knowledge to how far you can strip the car but surely the items i have mentioned are worth money. Think the 2.8 quattro uses the G60 brakes? VW people can use these as upgrades. Rear suspension is the same or similar to S2 estates, some parts must be interchangable?

I'll remember this you two are giving me more work to do thanks for the advice guys will have to start looking for info on how to get all the bits off if I can manage it will try and make a guide for people like me then at least if anyone does have the misfortune of having to scrap their car at least they can save all of the bits that are worth something.

I guess now would be a good time to learn as well guess I'm no worse off if I do break something.

                    I scrapped a 80 2.6 saloon
Im lucky my dads a farmer so ive got use of the barns and loaders.
I kept the engine and after 4/5 attempts to sell on ebay it sold (always use the free listing weekends) same with the gearbox
The interior was immaculate but nobody wants it
Suspension, subframe etc i sold complete.

Well I have my hands and a pretty basic socket set but will have a go at getting most of it off the only thing I really have is time and space so I should be able to get quite a bit more than I thought about taking off.

I know but I really do hate to have to scrap it would much rather someone have taken it as a whole and fixed her up. It was all running pretty well bar a few electrical niggles (old alarm and immobiliser problems). I only took it off the road because someone smashed the rear quarter glass and rear window or I had plans to fix it up myself. Every cloud has a silver lining though and it will help keep others on the road and should pay for a few small upgrades on the coupe.
