Cheers, good to know its still going. Whats it look like now?

Wouldn't bother with the intercooler unless you've got other mods to go with tbh.

Cheers John, already did the a4 conversion

Noticed my set of Sierra Cosworth black leather recaro's going mouldy in the shed, they were for another project, but decided they are better off in the Audi. Took the covers off, fitted heated elements and given them a good clean/leathercare. Fiddly but straight forward.

Just got to work out how to mount them onto the Audi subframes. Seems I have to loose the height adjustment otherwise they'll sit too high.

Other tdi is up for sale if anyone fancies one.

nope you can keep the height adjustment.

Just cut the bowl out and put two braces across the subframe (one front one back) to bolt the seat to and brace the height adjustment to this. Bryflyingby is doing this currently so worth asking him for some pictures. You can also drop the rear of the seat down a lot to give extra headroom

This is a stock subframe modded for a rs turbo recaro

Alex is a tall bloke and still had loads of headroom

the back of the seat was well and truly on the floor tho.

Ill probably get slated for this but it is now matte nato green. i personally like it and the fact the original paint was well past it made the choice easier. £35 for the paint and a few rollers was a much cheaper option in my mind.

ill try get a picture up here soon once i have worked out how to do it on ox mobile.

Looks pretty funky. Did you say the pumps are different between the late and early cars?

Cheers Pete, typically started stripping the adjusters off the other night before I saw your post, anyway, this is as far as I've got...

            Mould..

            Heat

If you take the old runners apart nd cut the mech's off, turns out its a 95% perfect fit horizontally with holes almost in the right place, one needs elongating about 1mm, fits front and rear.

Thinking of cutting along those lines and welding the frame there on both sides.

Only issue with that is the overhang.

Would have to keep at least the back end of that for the adjustment, chop out the rest.

            Then this barcket needs relocating

Well its work in progress there are the wheels it has now. uploadfromtaptalk1355235708163.jpg
I assume you mean the fuel pump? I had an L reg car before and the fuel pumps were different so couldn't swap them over, still on the lookout for a replacement.

How much did your exhaust cost you in the end and is it larger than standard?

Yeah thought thats what I remember you saying, need to change mine and can typically get hold of an early one.

Exhaust is 2.5" didn't cost me much as I had alot of bits lying around and a mate welded it for free.

early fuel pump? send a message to spink, he had my old early engine.

Nato green doesn't look bad just needs bigger rims/lowering to suit

Does an A4 fuel pump bolt straight on to there engines?

Was thinking about an 11mm pump from an auto, but I'm not sure that is the issue, still need to get the vnt turbo on, remap, new injectors, then it'll blow the headgasket and clutch. Thinking more about doing a pd conversion, seems logical when you tot up the costs of tuning the 1z. They're a bit quieter too aren't they?

Nah, I made the exhaust and tacked it together he just welded it up and I fitted it. I haven't got any more 2.5" pipework or boxes. If you have a look on ebay you'll find loads of new exhausts going cheap for all sorts of random cars. Literally £20-40 full systems, I bought a couple of those for bends etc and chopped them up.

Suppose I should give this an update. It got a PD130 inlet, some custom boost pipes made then a friend made me an offer I couldn't refuse. So I sold it, replaced with c4 a6.
