Been doing a bit more reading about how the bulb check is carried out on the CAN BUS systems which pulse a current through the bulb to check that the filament is in tact. With the HID's this wont work as they need to strike the ballast and the pulses wouldn't be significant enough. To overcome this problem a relay and parallel reservoir capacitor can be used so that auto check works OK. Looked at making myself, as is often the case its cheaper and more elegant to get the bits on EBay.

Also see alot of 35W and 55W kits. As the original bulbs will be 55W tempted to get these, but want to make sure will still be legal and not get too hot?

Aftermarket HID kits are anyway ilegal because you don't have headlight washing system and auto leveling system .

You can modify the coding of the central electrics unit to belive that has original xenon lights and you fix the problem without relays and capacitors .
