  • S2 price

    Hi guys,

I am new here and I am sorry if this is in the wrong section, didn't seem right putting it in 'for sale' or 'wanted'.

I am thinking of getting myself an S2 and have found a perfect example. I was wondering if you guys could help me with the value of it?

    It's a 'N' reg S2 in plum
It has done 118,000 with full service history 90% of which Audi and the other 10% specialist.
It has cream leather with carbon inlay.
Body work is perfect with only a few tiny patches (and I mean tiny). Same for the leather, no tears and all bolsters firm and unmarked.
Original alloys all unmarked. Totally standard car.

I was wondering what you guys thought?

My pence worth says that if it drives as good as your description, it is worth a min of £5k. Obviously anything is only worth what another is willing to pay but it sounds like a good motor if the history etc all checks out.

Has it had much work done to it? The body work can be as clean as you like and the odometer says sub 120k but if the chassis components are totally original, it'll need a load of cash and time throwing at it to make it drive properly, so make sure you factor this in. Chassis refresh and some brakes that will stop it will cost about £1500, assuming you do it all yourself and do pretty much the whole lot. HTH

          Hi all,

Thanks so much for you your quick responses.

Hey Rusty I'm in Bristol too

Good point regarding chassis work. I have only viewed it once and the actual owner wasn't there to find out what work has/hasn't been done. I will get in contact with him and see what receipts exist. I know he is planning on doing pads and discs before selling the car.

Whats it worth, what are you prepared to pay 3-6K its really all over the place. As Rusty said as well you could easily spend 1500 quid over night on bushes and new boost pipes etc. You really need to be able to work on it yourself or its a bottom less pit that you will soon get fed-up with in my opinion.
All that said best of luck I would not be without mine

The guy wants 4k, he's just text me. Obviously the worry is like you have all pointed out - what needs doing to it!

4k sounds like a good price for a stock car in excellent condition

Theres lots of advice on this forum about what the common faults are. So have a good look through, then take it for a test drive. If all seems fine then 4k sounds like a good price going by your description.

                      Good luck.

Seriously its not that hard to do if you just take your time, there isn't really any truly major jobs on the car that are hard to do with a bit of mechanical practice.

The rear end stuff on the car is very easy to work on, front suspension is the same. Engine can be a bit fiddly but worth trying it yourself

I was back when I first bought mine, but this forum can help you to gain the confidence to tackle it yourself, or be able to arrange / supervise having it done without completely emptying your wallet.

Get someone who knows these cars to go with you to view it?

Right now, it will take you too long to get to their level of knowledge of what you're both looking at, if you are in a position / want to buy an S2 now.

Its mandatory to post photos of what car you do buy.

                            Best wishes.

Is this car located in Bristol? If so, I've seen it and had a good look at it with the owner who's a member on here. The car is pretty much mint, I've not crawled under it to have a look at the bushes, however the rest looks very good. Drop me a PM if I'm correct about the car.
