    Decoding option codes of my RS2..

    I've recently had a wonderful chance to meet another RS2 enthusiast in Korea. Our fellow forum member, RS2junkie, has been relocated to Seoul for a project and we had great time having dinners and talking about my RS2. He is a tremendous help for me to know more about my car and RS2 in general.

    Last Sunday he and I were examining my RS2 and he pointed at a small sticker with all the option codes listed under the trunk.

    I got carried away and went on to figure out what is what on that list. I have some questions regarding some of the options and I would like to ask your opinions on them.

    here it goes:

    X0A = National sales program Germany
    -> I know my car was privately imported from Germany. Does this code mean that my car was a domestic market (for Germany) car?

    B0A = Component parts set without country-specific design requirement

    C1D = Steel wheels 7.00 x 17.5
    -> Steel wheels of odd size? I don't get it..

    G0L = 6-speed manual transmission for four-wheel drive vehicle

    H5L = Tires 205/45 R 16 87W xl
    -> My car must have come with the standard 16" wheels from the factory. I didn't know because my car came to me with 18" MTM wheels. That also suggests that my car has small disk brakes.. I thought I had a larger disks.

    J0J = Battery 300 A (63 Ah)

    M0H = 5-cylinder gasoline engine 2.2 L/232 kW turbo injection base engine is T1M

    Q1E = RECARO sports seats, front

    1AC = Anti-lock brake system (ABS)

    1G3 = Alloy spare wheel with original equipment tires
    -> Never seen a spare tire. One of previous owners must have removed it.

    1MW = Leather steering wheel

    1N1 = Power steering

    6TD = Right exterior mirror: electrically adjustable, convex (Porsche)

    6UD = Left exterior mirror: electrically adjustable, flat (Porsche)

    T1M = 5-cylinder gasoline engine 2.2 L unit 034.P

    3S0 = Without roof rails/roof load rack
    -> No roof rails. Fair enough.

    4UE = Air bag for driver and front seat passenger

    5J0 = Without rear spoiler

    0G1 = Gearshift lever
    -> ??? What kind of car DOES NOT have one???

    8AA = Without radio
    -> When i bought mine, it came with Harman/Kardon Mexico head unit. I thought factory radio has been replaced...

    8GL = Alternator 120 A

    8FA = Without second battery

    8RA = Without speakers
    -> Again, my car came with aftermarket speakers..

    1LH = Disc brakes, front

    3FD = Electric sliding/pop-up sunroof

    3YB = Door pockets, front

    1BE = Sports suspension/shock absorption

    Considering my car has many MTM goodies (guages, wheels, intake manifold, ECU with MTM seal and others), RS2junkie entertained that my car may have been ordered with as few options as possible, because the first owner was planning to modify it heavily.

    Anyhow, I want to know more about my car. If anyone knows whatabouts on it, let me know! I emailed MTM some time ago hoping that they might have something on their file, but no replies yet.

    Other source say that C1D is RS2 Porsche Cup wheel (17" wheel), not Steel wheel 7.00x17.5.
    Either way, it doesn't make sense because H5L (16" tires) contradicts anyway..

    Grrrr...

        Paul's VIN decoder doesn't do the build tag codes IIRC.

          Hmmm...I thought that I had responded before but I guess I did a preview and then never actually hit the POST button.

          I have done dozens of S2, UrS4/S6 and RS2 build tags and it is very common for there to be "errors" in the wheel code and contradictions with the tire sizes and the wheels. I don't know why but it is common in my experience.

          For the wheel codes, it did this post:

            I just happened across when seeking out a bunch of PR codes on the S4 that don't show up in KATE --->

            Its quite a mahoosive document at some 200 pages, but you can search it - looks good so far, but not tested on any curious old S2/RS2 codes.
