968 Clubsport? Supercharging is also an option, but the handling is sublime

996's are major bargains at the moment, still have a negative cachet because of the problems with the switch to water cooled, if you buy from a reputable company like Dove House you should be ok, but personally, I would go for a 996 C4 wide body

Sorry to hear you've sold your S2 must have been hard couldn't contemplate selling mine it would have to be a silly offer to sell!!! Have a look at an RS4 so many people have gone the route of selling their S2 and moved to RS4??? but I guess a Porsche might help!!

Glad you seam to be a serious/genuine proponant of the S2 like myself. In answer to your question, i am refering to the selling the S2 and moved to RS4??? you wrote so many people going down that route. The reason is most probably they chose an S2 when they did because the RS4 was out of their reach at the time. They have now moved on in the search of more power newer car and more perceived prestige. The model of audi is almost irelavant when the next big thing is only round the corner when their wallet allows.

Nice to know there are still a few left who love the 80 S2

Need to be a C4S for the wide body.

The naturally aspirated 3.6 996 & early 997 do seem to suffer with intermediate bearing problems and scratched bores. In truth I don't think it will have enough grunt coming from a sorted S2. The turbo is in a completely different performance league and not plagued with engine probs. not sure of your budget but that's the one to hang on for..

As DJones is it not the c4 that suffers with bore issues? Without putting the cat amongst the pigeons Merc 190 cosworth 2.5 its different and will only go up in value.

fish- I know You pain. But I have an idea! Take mine: on Ebay
Unluckily I sell because I must, if I did not have to I would never abandon my beloved Now I have some good offers which if I had before the S2 would have been gone already but with pain in heart. Nowadays cars do not have character as the old 5 cylinder have.
