1989 B3 80quattro 2.3 - 1of2 in SA

Long time no post.
So I've been thoroughly enjoying my RS2- it comes out of the garage on a Saturday, gets respected on the way to work and then molested pretty much all day. Then washed and covered up back in the garage until the next Saturday
I just bought this 89 80quattro which I have no idea whatsoever how they got here ( there was a red one a few years back in SA in LHD as well).
It seems American spec to me but I may be wrong.
Body is excellent but I have never had a chance to drive it because of the shocking state it is in mechanically.
The previous owner was cash strapped and could not afford maintenance. Spares are rare and being LHD made it worse. I wish they hadnt butchered the engine bay but unfortunately the fuel injection has been yanked off the 2.3 5pot and a carburettor off a Golf2 stuck on top.
So she starts and drives but misses badly.
More than this I have no clue but the plan is to fit an AAN engine off an UrS4 which my good friend and old time S2forum poster, AutoStart, helped me locate in Cape Town.
The main idea is for this to resemble the B4 SuperTouring cars of the early 90's but with the turbo 5banger making it a fun and powerful trackday toy.
Below is the livery I decided on
And these BBS in red at the rear and blue upfront to tie in with the livery.
Any and all input would be greatly appreciated.
First things first is I need to replace the windscreen and the head and tail lights.
I would bother my parents who are currently in the UK but I will be attending the World RS2 meet in Germany in August, so I reckon i'll shop then.
Trying to make this a budget build so I hope the engine is the most expensive bit of kit I'm buying!
Any comments FOR or AGAINST my plans will be welcome.
