B3 90 Quattro (with added ABY)

Hiya. I've been poking round the forum now for a few weeks. This isnt really full of projectt at all, so have popped it in here.

I recently purchased the above off a friend, who had got it from another friend. I cant take any credit as a previous owner has carried out the conversion. Its been rolling roaded at 260bhp. It also has a WOT box retro fitted, so having launch control is a giggle.

It's been purchased as a stop gap bit of fun whilst i build my MK2.

Now me and my friends rent units locally to work on our cars (I've only recently become one of the unit residents, due to my current house move i need somewhere to work on the car(s) ).

I started off in a tiny unit,

Then as I didnt want to be an annoyance to my sister and brother in law, moved the golf and the audi to a much larger unit

Now the handling and braking were, well needed tightening up, so after a massive pain in the backside with FK i settled for koni inserts and some springs

    All built up

This is how it currently sits, as the front hubs are off at G23 with the some 4 pot brembos having some brackets made up. We've a local place which will make crimped braided lines (i dont want to fall foul of an eagle eyed mot tester) at a fair price.

Other than thaat i've been changing ball joints, rod ends etc to tighten it all up, the thats it, i'll have a fun little weekend whip.

Nice unit there. The new purchase will certainly be some fun. What are the plans for the MK2?

What work is involved in fitting the upper part of the original 90 bumper onto the V6 bumper?

I do love my unit Greg, its a little home from home, plus as it's in the country side and is a ten minute drive, when ever im there, it's always productive.

The mk2, this happened last year

but has sat in etch primer since owing to work, and moving house, well selling my house, moving out, then finding out there are financial issues with the seller of the new house and her lender not agreeing to the release of the property owing to the huge debt (It's northern rock, so you can probably work out the situation). So I've not had a place to work until recently.

Plans, it was going to be FWD with the usual 20vt (as in MK4 platform / tt), as theres so much out there part and information wise it was a no brainer for easy power. Then someone put the idea of going 4wd using haldex into my head, as having a fruity 20vt would be interesting in fwd. So looked into it and spoke with people who are in the know, I was extremely sceptical about it, thought there no where near as much phaffing as i thought, then a rose jointed rallye rear subframe pretty much fell at my feet. Once the 90 is sorted will start on swapping the exhaust tunnel with a Corrado to accommodate the prop shaft, I'll pop a thread up at some point for it.

Nuvo. I'll be honest, I've no idea. I didn't even know that was a V6 bumper. I can ask for you, to see if either of my friends know.

The inserts were from DC performance, they worked out cheapest all in for the adjustable ones.

They're compomotive cxn, they were missing the badges, so my friend and previous owner popped some bbs badges in, the rest are compomotive. They will be up for sale soon, as being 16s they wont fit over the new brakes which is a shame as i do like them. Ideally they need a bit of money spending to rebuild them.

So it's been a while since I've been on here. But having been and advertised a couple of bits today thought i'd give a wee update.

I was offered some 4 pot brembos from a 7 or 8 series bmw, pads and focus RS discs at a more than fair price with some homebrew adaptors. So using these as a base i took them to G23 engineering, who made me some nice shiny adaptors:

I then took a trip to Earls hoses over at Silverstone (I'm quite fortunate to live a short drive away) and had these made up:

Ended up being sent two bottles rather than one of this, by euro car parts when it was on offer.... Would have been rude not to use it:

Then found another brucey bonus online on some federal rsr's:

And this is how it currently sits, the wheels aren't to everyones taste, but I like them in an ugly duckling way:

The car has been a problem child in that some of the parts which have needed replacing due to age have been a pain to get hold of. Such the adjusters for the tie rods, which seems to be an issue everyone has. Short of paying for new OE tie rod assemblies it seemed like there was no other option, as QH list them, but no one stocked them. Fortunately a seller on ebay, based in lithuania came through with some made by Ruville, they're not the best quality metal, but at £15 rather than £240 plus vat, there's no arguing.

Eagle eyed. It was there, I've since spaced the rears out accordingly.

Bambridge on here does some nice adjusters which I will be using when needed.
Personally I like the wheels, plain simple and no frills... but then i may be biased

Nothing wrong in being biased and proud at the same time.
