New member and new car off the forum

Evening guys. Been on here for nearly a year browsing the for sales and contemplating a purchase. I had a mk4 golf R32 in the garage and used a mk5 gti daily. I come from a long line of vag cars including numerous mk2 golfs, mk3's vr6, corrado vr6, skoda Vrs Audi S3, golf mk1 G60 and so on. I have now moved a mere 4 miles from home so commuting is no longer an issue. So I sold the mk5 and decided to use the R32 daily and also a new mountin bike to get to work on

While looking and deciding my mate got a silver S2 avant. Aby. It was sold from a member on here to my best mate Steve. Aka Monkeymagic. After a quick look I decided this was the car for me

Here is the thread for what he did to it prior to me having it

Anyway. I got it a few weeks ago

Days after having it I filled the tank and discovered a fuel leak from a broken basket on top of the tank. A new one has just arrived so I will be sorting that in the next few days. I have also replaced the thermostat and given it the clean of its life. It has the grey leather and wooden panelling inside and a material trim on the door cards that matched neither.

I have just got a cream leather and original carbon set of door cards from on here.

Worth it for the carbon alone.

It then started dreaded boost leak and after checking it with Steves boost kit and nipping up loose hoses discovered a knackered intercooler so there was another job to do.

Then After a few beers and a chat with Steve decided to have a go at dying the leather to match the seats. Decided again that I would like to have black leather instead and as I could not find any for sale Steve suggested I get some furnature clinic colour change set and have a go myself. So yesterday and today I started to remove the lot to clean and dye the leather black. I started with the rear door cards as they hadthe smallest bits of leather. They turned out ok so the rest of the car is underway. All door cards are now done along with one of the front seats. I will get some pics up tomorrow as I finish the rest off

There we go. Been meaning to get the introduction done for a while. And my experiances of people on this forum have been very good so thought I should pull my finger out.

Looks like a really tidy car, I must be the only person who likes the wood trim, I think carbon just looks too dark with black leather.

If you're interested, I'll have a heated black leather interior from an S2 Avant for sale in a week or so. No door cards unfortunately, but it looks like you might have that sorted!

I know. Could not remove it so decided to leave where it was

So. I have finished the door cards and one front seat. Here's a comparison.

As far as a write up for colouring the seats goes. If you search you tube for furniture clinic you will see a part 1 and a part 2 video. Watch that and it explains it perfectly.

I will get some better pictures of the S2 up once I have worked the da polisher over it. I also have some better ones of the R32 from this years gti international last week that I will get of the camera
