  • Nissan Sunny GTI-R duel

On my way to work this morning i had a duel with a Nissan Sunny GTi-R, those things are fast. I dont normally race other cars, but it was early and there were no other cars around. We were neck and neck away from two sets of lights, dead equal. Not sure what it would be like at higher speeds but they are certainly quick.

Thats little engine is one awesome piece of kit. SR20DET comes with a T3 garret turbo and throttle bodies!!!!

Only weak part is pistons tend to melt if tuned.

Mate of mine had one with a Norris Designs engine, it was fully rebuilt with HKS pistons etc etc, but ran with only a chip. We didnt get any more from it as he rolled it after a postman pulled out on him. Doh! But i was lucky enough to have to remove everything from it.

The Sunny weighs almost as much as the Audi. Its a very heavy little car.

I used to have a GTIR which was running a healthy 308bhp @ 1.2bar. After owning it for a good 2 years... im afraid to say that for outright accleration the GTIR ( in my opinion ) is quicker than the s2. Performance per pound you cant complain...just a shame about the silly spoiler / bonnet grilles... apart from that, great alternative to the subaru.

I would imagine a tuned one would be very quick. The S2 has its advantages and disadvantages, if you try and race someone whilst cruising at a steady speed it can take a while for the turbo to spin up, whereas if you are ready to race and the turbo is on boost they f'ing fly :rocks:

I find it best to choose your battles.....

                            Cheers,

                            Steve.
