i have to agree - i think that we would have just ended up fighting amongst ourselves instead of concentrating our historical rage upon you lot down there!!

it's a bit like my friend saying "i won't hear any of it - rolf harris is a good man!" shortly before he was sentenced for tampering with kiddies' bottoms!!

I have absolutely no desire to go back to Glasgow, thanks, but clearly you and your Scottish brethren did just vote to stay in the union and a majority agree we're better together... so no more

Anyway, you Scots have had enough of the limelight recently, so enough of Scotland and more of Wales on this thread please...

A few of my favourite snaps from my previous trips to inspire everyone...

Some great photos. Absolutely love Wales in general and there are some cracking roads.

Most of the time i'm delivering in a 44 tonne arctic to sites/farms most people wouldn't take a pushbike. I do like a challenge though and it lets me discover some great backroads. Only driven a car in Wales the once... it was to collect my avant so i can live with that.

Yes, that's the Capel Curig road to Snowdonia. We went at the end of April 2013 when they had crazy amounts of snow in certain places. The trip almost got called off, got we were very very glad we went

Sounds like a great trip. The roads around Capel Curig lead to some great places not that there are many roads because there is only 2 at that point with house at the junction there with it's out of place Cartwheel . You must know Betsy as we call it otherwise Known as Betws-y-Coed also Beddgelert. The scenery is stunning round there except one road that takes you down to Blaenau ffestiniog?,can't remember, the roads very good, but the sheer cavernous mountain slopes in the deep mountain gorge covered in waste slate makes me feel i'm on Mars so desolate and bleek it is. The only problem is to go there and back for me is at least 500 miles from Rickmansworth M25,M1,M6 off at Jct 18 and the onto a little later the A 55.

You're not that far from me, i'm near Milton Keynes. Easily done in a day, a 2-day weekend, or a 3-day long weekend depending on how many roads you want to see!

IMO the best northern route is the B4396 from Shrewsbury area to Bala, A4212, B4391 to Blaenau-Ffestiniog, A470 to Betsy, you can either do the triangle then up to Conwy and back to Betsy, or just take the A5 to Capel Curig then the A4086 to Snowdon. From there either straight to Beddgelert on the A498 or right at Snowdon down the A4086, the Llanberis Pass, up to Caernarfon and then down the A4085 to Beddgelert. From here you head south and then either head home again via Bala or onto some other fantastic driving roads on day 2

We do this route M25,M1,M6 off at Jct 18 and the onto a little later the A 55 purely to get to My 93 nan quickly and have done for decades who lives in Rhyl/Rhuddlan area but used to run a Hotel in outskirts of Conway, before she retired, close to Signant pass higher up for one of the long established walking holiday companies. That way you mentioned is great and once we are up there we travel down from the coast into Snowdonia Park and get to some of the places you mention.

Cracking pics nice to see another megane r26 in with you.. No matter where in Wales you end up with some lovely roads like down with me in pembrokeshire only short blasts but plenty of them around. And if you come down to pembrey can get to our hidden gem of a race track there
