Everything was OK, apparently in that time, the US VINs were different from Europe VINs and that is why there was a small change in the VIN in ther papers.
I have noticed the VIN code difference on one 86 4000, the firewall had EU VIN stamped in (WAUZZZ...) but the windsheld label and B pilar label had the US VIN (WAUABC...). other than the 3 letters everything else matched. I can't really remember if the riveted factory build tag on the right bulkhead was US or EU VIN.

    The prank was really good

If it cost you €6000,- to get the car to your door you did very well. Mine cost me €4600,- to my door and is definately worse than yours.
If you consider that triangular grills left and right of the dash cover missing makes the car worse,relax..This one does not have them also But i found them in my old b2 part mountain.
Does your car also miss the light on the roof?Is it because of the electric sunroof?

+quattrostyle yes you can get that for your car as well.
Go to their website, and fill in your VIN.
About the price, I was lucky with the shipping. I only paid 850 USD. You paid a lot more. I think that is why your total was that high.

PS Why don't you present your 4000cs?

    Enjoy your new car!
The area where the rear floor meets the under seat says all,no rust, and that is one of the first areas that start to rust.
Removed the timing for replacement and the camshaft cover for blasting and painting for a little fresh look.No carbon deposits. The coolant passages all clean no deposits. This engine deserves good care until owner will decide it is time for one of his aan engines swap.
The areas that were not covered in body sealant have little surface rust. Not even worth sandblasting.Mechanical removing and por 15 when the car will receive full respray.

I am happy to have helped with the VIN info. That letter from Volkswagen regarding the "ZZZ" in the VIN also helped you.

Car looks great. Your friend took the prank well.
