what ive been up to this weekend.

as some of you know i have been converting the saloon to "my" s2 spec. kinda s2+

i dont have a project thread as im lazy. i work in it and have had enough of puters by the days end.

well after clearing a bit of snow i decided to do a bit.

first was to fit the stud kit. we talked about wheels and stuff in anothe thread. basically my discs aare 2 piece custom on the front and a pita to get wheels on and as i was "informed" i would for sure need spacers.....

well heres the brakes with the stud conversion of the front. caliper could do with a paint but to be honest im lucky its not been scrapped by the robbers

thats a gt2 6 pot on a 993 tt disc with custom bell and brackets.

next was a wheel test. the wheel is an s4 17" rim with a 235 45 17 tyre. something that "wont" fit on a flat arched car. well on the first test on the rear 5mm max spacer was needed. maybe get away with none.

    on the front....

no spacer at all...the reason.... the current arms are not s2 arms they are 16v ones. they are longer by an inch or so. the downside is the stress spread and the shape. ill be putting the s2 arms on either way so i expect to need about 8mm of spacer. itll be close on the front arch though width wise..

so far so good. engine is in

just wiring it up and then its out for a clean and what have you. im not into really clean shiny bits. i prefer to drive my car. gotta say its a good clean starter for 10 though this car.

Good to see you're still messing with Audis! Would be good to see more of the project, is it an 80 quattro? Always liked the idea of an S2 saloon.

Wheel nuts are the problem with a stud conversion. Porsche locking wheel nuts should fit as they have the same radius shaped seat.

I bought these slim conical nuts from Raceways for my summer rims: http://www.raceways.co.uk/Star_desig...inc_finish.htm

Can't see much in the way of radius seat for OEM alloys though.

They do have some lock nuts though: http://www.raceways.co.uk/Wheel_lock_nuts_and_bolts.htm

Might be worth contacting them to see if they can supply some of the correct fitment, they've been very good when I've used them in the past.

Only 1 file is attached to the thread Re-attach them and re-path the IMG tags and you'll be fine

Are you going B4 front arches and grafting B4 rear arches on? Seen this done on a B3.

its an 80 q. was a 16v. its a b3. full s2 conversion really. including steering rack, wiring, clocks transmission, 6 pots, big rears, aby coupe trim, wagner IC, inlet, tubular exhaust, vems, sc6152e turbo, eboost2, defi gauges, vems egt,WB02 etc... gotta say the saloon is a better more rigid chassis.

may post some more, tbh ive not photod anything so far. i neede a few pics as alex has been helping my memory recollection a fair bit for wiring and braking. some bits are 80q/s2 mixed due to shell differences. little timy bits like gaitor holes make all the difference. i know my s2 was good. i want the 80 to be the same

i think that landcrusier ones are the ideal at 50mm long. gonna measure up first.

no im sticking with flat b3 andy. its a big job and as the car has 0 rust i feel it would be a shame to change it. i bought a b3 for the older school look too. time may change my thoughts on this though.

at weekend i plan to see if i can get all 4 wheels on and the s2 arms. then ill know for sure how much it catches.

              lets try again with pics
