I had been half heartedly looking at b5 S4 avants. the prices for a good one though was high. Then this came along what can I say what a car, it was cheap and i thought there must be something wrong. After several chats and further photos with the owner I arranged a trip to Luton with the cash just in case.. she is a late 2000 model with all the toys including sunroof and a mere 107,000 miles. THe service history is impeccable and at the end of last year every thing was done at Hitchin Audi Inc belts and all fluids, a hefty receipt too.. The owner has literally replaced everything at some point including the auto dimming rear view mirror and 4 new genuine alloys (3k). VCDS said the only fault was a dodgy temp sender so I was a happy boy. The test drive clinched it and i drove home happy.
If im being super picky the near side rear door has had a scuff and the repair is sub standard, so i have booked it in for that and the off side rear wheel bearing is a tad rumbly but thats an easy one.
I have a new temp sender to go in and I had her on the ramp Monday, I am pleased to report not a drop of any fluid leak from anywhere, the exhaust and suspension all looks fresh too.
I love the flexibility i got 33 mpg on the motorway with cuise on, but put your foot down and 3 figures comes along way too quickly.

All RS4's are avants arent they? I know what you mean I have just landed a job a short walk /cycle from home so my mileage is going from 60+ per day to 0 so its seemed a perfect time too..

It was from Paul mate. He advertised it on SRS and I think people were put off as the price was so low. After several chats with him he seemed a very reasonable chap that had a price in mind and wasnt being greedy. I am sure he could of got more for it but was happy with my offer. He was a nice guy and told me all about the car and its history.
It was bought by a guy called Paul Rink OBE at 1 year old after he chopped in an S6 at Worcester Audi. It sold for thte sum of circa 45k at 1 year old. Mr Rink sold it on and I have a handwritten note from him to the next owner telling him to look after it as it was a "special car". It had a couple more owners before finding its way to Paul's father in law and then to Paul. I kept expecting to find a horror somewhere but its all good....

Yeh... that car comes from my uncle and then my Cousins other half. It has been a VERY well looked after car and I have seen this and been out in it several times. Its been in our family for a good few years now and as said has always been very well looked after. You wont believe what he is thinking of buying next... a vauxhal Corsa.... He wanted something that was newer and cheaper to put petrol in.

You have just purchased a crackign car there buddy. Believe me when I say it will have been treated extremely gently and has been serviced every year regardless.

My uncle purchased it from a mechanic who had it as his second car. My uncle then used the car for a tow car to tow his caravan but then changed to a BMW X5 instead. He used the RS4 rarely as he had a choice of this, a 3 series bmw, a Porsche 911, a TR6 and his favourite was a Citroen 2CV. My cousins other half, Paul, purchased it off him for cheap and carried on with the regular up keep and now you seem to have purchased it.

Enjoy it and believe me when i say again you have got a cracking car that I was trying to see if I coudl afford to purchase but couldnt.

I intend for it to be a long term keeper. I was amazed how nice it is underneath. A friend owns one and it leaks everywhere. It's nice to know the history.
