Anyone near Swindon who can help fit my KWs??

After 15 months of my car on axle stands I figure I might make the neighbours happy and get it moved

Seriously... what with house renovations needing completing and hardly any time to do that let alone sort the car - I could do with some help getting the rear KWs fitted. Anyone who knows a good mobile mechanic or is up for it, I'll pay for a day of help sorting it quite happily!

Let me know if you know someone who could help. The goal is to fit the rear suspension that is partly re-assembled (cant get the rear wishbones on with the poly bushes for the life of me) and get it on wheels, so it can be put on the back of a flatbed.

Don't worry I'm not getting rid of it - just trying to get it to a position it is 'rolling' so I can get it sent off for subframe refurb + refit of everything again, oil pump + cambelt refit, and a bit of paint work over the winter. In the mean time I'll be finishing the house then clearing the garage for her return!!

Bump... can someone please help Ross out because he's run out of talent trying to do this on his own on his driveway and it's frankly disgusting that he's not driven this beauty in over a year

If i went to help i don't think we'd get any further. We were fortunate not to leave my car stranded without the hydraulic pump fitted correctly after rounding off the bolt once

It was the funny bolt with the filter in it... utterly destroyed... fortunately I dug a spare one out of my big box of bolts and we sent you on your way. Not after sorting out dodgy hoses too if I recall - or was that another time?

That was another time... actually on the way back from ADI if you remember? I was getting horrific boost cut so i dropped in, and you conveniently had a load of brand-new vac hose and mini jubilee clips which did the job - probably our best to date

              How far along is it?

Maybe we should get a forum meet together at Ross's, get a few more hands on it. Would love to help, but with a house move happening imminently I can't just offer up the time.

Is it coupe or avant. Like others if it weren't for lack.of time I'd happily do it.

                    It's an RS2.

It sounds like Ross can't get the rear wishbones back on with the polybushes, to re-fit the suspension. I think it just needs someone with some experience having done it before.

The car doesn't need to be functioning and running at the end of it - just on wheels so that i can be rolled/pushed onto a trailer to be sent off for some further work. As it stands it's been stuck sat on his driveway for over a year!!

I think a garage meet is the way to go... complete with a few beers and BBQ

Think my brother used a wiggle bar and a big club hammer whilst i was doing another job on the opposite side of the car... I dont know if that helps at all?

Where is the car, Ross? On a driveway or in a garage?
                        What polybushes have you got?

I've done the bushes and KW Variants on my RS2, it was very straight forward, what seems to be the problem?

                            Hey guys

                            Thanks for the responses

The issue is as Andy says, getting suspension and front tie rods put back together and fitted to the car. I've been struggling to get bushes removed + fitted, just about there now, and I'm really low on time so getting a couple of hours here and there just isn't working out... I think many of us are in that boat. I've got all the rear poly bushes that were on offer, fronts have recent HD bushes so leaving them for now.

Nothing needs fully tightening, just enough to get the car rolled onto a trailer and to a garage - ultimately I am going to have the subframes dropped as I have 034 rubber bushes for the rear and poly for the front, plus I need to replace the oil pump before I can fit the cambelt. I need to source a new oil pump but have everything else. There's also an Apokil rear diff mount kit, balljoints, rear tie rods, if more folks want to get involved

As said in my first post - I expect to pay someone to do this, just can't find anyone who has the inclination... sad fact is, these old cars are a labour of love and mobile mechanics would rather work on something that is an easy job with a mark-up on parts to make it more worth their while.

The car is on my driveway, when I dropped it onto axle stands I didn't expect it to sit there all year - I wish I'd cleared the garage first and put it in!

I do have a spare set of Mance Mountsavers that could be on offer in exchange for help
