It was a good publicity stunt for Lotus. They lent an Esprit to the locals plod for a while.

Its was displayed at a couple of shows etc and used a little. But how do you carr yhte 'standard highway kit' in one of those. Yuo know the cones etc that the Carltons and Senators carry around.

But AFAIK it never broke down.......

I seem to remember a similar type of story about Surrey motorway police a few years back having a Porsche 968 for their patrol car so that they could keep up with all the BMW M5s ripping up and down the M3/M4!
