The torque to weight ratio of the ABY vs. 530d are actually quite similar. However, the power to weight ratio difference is hugely in the S2's favour. Maybe using a 0-60 as an example was not the best, 50-70mph, however, still uses the same principles of power to weight ratio (with an added dose of aerodynamic efficiency). If high torque was everything, we'd be putting tractor engines in our cars.
