unfortunatly brakes are gone. The guy say he has left one of the front calipers (but this sounds strange to me, so it might come from the wheel severely damaged in the accident....).
Yeah, the "higher bid" mode is probalby the only solution.
Good for me, but this would not help to keep costs low .
Anyway, for all the parts, if could be possible I would like everybody interested in any of them to post here, or anywhere you prefer, a "Christmas whish list" of parts with also maximum acceptable cost for each of them including shipping/travel of the "Italian Job Guys".
This way will know how far I can go dealing with the seller. As sayd, for everybody's interests (including mine) I would try to get the best price, so that it could well be lower than your max "acceptable cost" , at the end.
All this should help me excluding to buy parts that nobady would ever take.
Of course I don't even assume you already take a final purchasing decision. Just would like to keep my risks as low as possible.
Moreover, I may also need to choose whatever part to take or not for a lack of time problem.
Any ideas how to manage such a problem the in a correct way for everybody?
Marco, the only fair way to do it is go thru all the posts and whatever PM's you've got, check the dates and times, and make a list based on who asked first. It sux but it's the only fair way to do it. I'll try and come up with something that I can implement into the forum that will help with this in the future...
Painfully said goodbye to my baby....
2001 A4
Silver with black leather, Symphony, sport package, S4 bumper and wheels
After having set a fair price for all the items (once I have them and supposing they are in good working condition) I'll go through all the messages and PMs and make a sort of list. If at the setted price first "bidder" gives up, second "bidder" will come in and so on.
Anyway I still ask the "what part for how much" questions.
What I really am concerned about is that, for example, I would be seriously interested in keeping the 6 speed gearbox, but personally I wouldn't spend for it more than 1000 euros (being only a spare for me). So if the guy will not go under lets say 1500 euros I could avoid taking it. But maybe out there in the forum is somebody badly willing to have one so that 1500+ lets say 200 euros (for the UK-to-Italy and back travel quote for it) could be still worth.
But I need to know those things, otherwise I may let go items that could be of serious interest for somebody else.
Does it make sense?
I'm planning to go there this Saturday so any input could be usefull.
I may not have been so clear when exposing the facts, but the problem is:
Saturday I will go where the crashed car is. I cannot take the whole car with me because it is legally not allowed (once the car has had the licence plates given back, the chassis can no more travel anywere in any manner). So I will need myself to take off the car all the parts I want, from over there, and pay for them cash before coming back.
This is why time is a critical aspect and so is knowing exactly what parts need to be taken.
If I could have bought the whole car and taken it home, then things would have been much easyer, also because I could have found a "all in one deal" with the seller.
My schedule will be:
Leave home at 2 am :wacked:
At the RS2's place at 8-9 am;
From 9 am to 6 pm (or whatever the closing time will be) working on the car :wacked: :wacked:
Immediatly afterwards back home, at approx 2-3 am on Sunday :wacked: :wacked: :wacked:
To all of the guys that have PM'd me I just say I'll make a list of all the requests with the priorityes given to the ones arrived first.
I already have the main RS2 panel on mine , with S2 aux instrumentation. I didn't ever notice any difference but could well be I didn't pay enaugh attention.
I'll take a better look tomorrow with daylight.
Difference I noticed is only RS2 tacho+speedo+side gauges rings are shiny black.
If anyone is thinking of sticking RS2 mirrors om their car - you should get the RS2 wiring loom - they connect straight to the S2 wiring loom and RS2 mirrors - no splicing (they cost ****-loads new).
