Looking to buy an S2. Any tips?

Hi folks, and welcome to my first post on your forum.

I'm looking to buy an S2 (probably coupe) in the near future.

If anyone is selling one... i'd be interested to hear from them.

Also, does anyone have any hints & tips in what to look for (good or bad qualities) in a second-hand S2?

    Thanks.

You need to decide from the word go what you want. 3B/ABY are you going to leave it standard? or upgrade it? It may be better buying one with things done to it already ie. brakes, suspension etc......

        I'm after the ABY.

I'd better not get an upgraded one... the insurance would rocket.

s2central seems to give good details of things to look for on 2nd hand S2s. thanks euans2!

Thanks folks. Keep the tips coming. (and let me know if you're selling)

Not really. All the mods are declared on mine and it didn't change the premium at all.

Just guessing, but won't my age and my 0 years' no claims bonus make my insurance change?
Anyway, i'm rerally looking for an unmoded car.

I'm selling an ABY coupe. Follow the link in my signature if you're interested. Even if you're not sure but are somewhere near Bristol please feel free to come and have a look to see what one's like (assuming you haven't already been in one). Going for a drive in one made me want an S2 even more!

S2 central is a very good site. Other options are to find someone who already owns an S2 to tell you of their experience or to come and have a look with you. It's not watertight but might be a good option. Just my tuppence worth.

                @Bowlerwell
                Welcome!
If you're concerned about the insurance given your age and lack of no claims bonus, have you tried calling a couple of insurance companies to see if they'll even give you cover?
As Rotorboy says, declaring mods does not necesarily mean the premium increases if they're a good company. I'm surprised if there are any un-modded S2s left around here anyway

Good luck though and enjoy the search.

Yep, just did an online quotation with Elephant.
They're pretty close to Admiral, but a little cheaper.

                          Thanks folks.
