For Sale S2 Coupe Rear Bumper (slightly damaged)

It has some small acratches and an area of plastic the size of a 5p has "bubbled" up by about 2mm on the top edge at one corner.

    (I reversed slowly into a wall )

The marks are not that bad but I want to keep my car mint, so it is being replaced with a new one. I am planning to post a coupe of pics at the weekend.

It is painted Amethyst Pearl metallic and was new last spring. (my neighbour hit it and it was replaced on his insurance)

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Cheers,

    Steve.

I wouldn't mind find a reinforcement bar "only" for a rear european bumper. I have an aftermarket cover coming in that is designed for that bar. I have a US car, and it has a different rear bar. I think it must be different, anyway. The mounting of it sure is.

Would this bumper be a good candidate? It doesn't sound like it, as it's probably servicable as a complete bumper with just a some work and a respray.

Since I don't need the cover, maybe someone knows of a bare bar that I can pick up cheap. I bet the bars are pretty durable and less fragile than a complete bumper with the cover. Perhaps I could get away with just slapping a shipping label on it and mailing it over here that way, instead of having a huge box or crate?

This has no bar and is just the "cover"

I am not sure how well you would be able to repair the bumper as it has stretched. The body shop were willing to try but would not gurantee a good repair. As I wanted my car mint, I went for a complete new bumper.

I will post the pics later on today.

My rear bumper has gone in the same way. It only takes a small nudge on the rear to create a bulge on either of the top corners. How much is a new rear bumper??

              Really?

Take old one off. - First of all you have to try and get your arm up inside to get the bolts off not easy.

Once you have done all that you have to thoroughly clean behind the old bumper for that concours look.

Once the new one is in place you then have to carefully mark and drill the new holes for the arch mounts, then align the bumper....

2 hours if you do it properly dude!

              Cheers,

There is no Euro or UK only rebar in the Euro rear bumpers. Period. Euro & UK safety standards are keyed for the safety of pedestrians. While US safety standards are keyed for the safety of the driver and occupants in the car. There is no rebar made by the OEM that will fill the bill you are looking for. You will have to make or have one fabed for you. In my humble opinion it's a waste of money and time because there is no crumple zone behind a Euro bumper. The fit to the body allows no space for said rebar. Either you live with the risk of getting rearended by a soccer mom in her SUV or you can forget about using a Euro bumper.

                  Hi,

Are you Marc? I got this pic from a guy out here named Marc, and I thought it might be you. It's supposed to be the back (front?) side of the S2 rear bumper. It looks to me that there is something there besides the "skin".

As far as I know, since the part in question hasn't arrived yet, but I need to slap a fiberglass rear bumper on top of a euro rear bumper. The bumper cover I am referring to is like the second pic.

                    Top pix is mine....

The pix is that of a Euro S2 bumper. As you can see, there isn't much too it as too rear end protection It is definitely a dice roll if you mount this thing to your car in the US. As for a cover over another bumper, it won't work. It has more too it than the skin of the Audi US DSOT bumper, but less substantial to make it usable as a suitable bumper for American road use.

You do seem like the same guy I was referring to.

We seem to be talking about two different things here. I'm trying to put an aftermarket fiberglass bumper cover that is made for an european bumper on my car which has a DOT bumper, and to do so I'm seeking a european bumper with or without the skin. I'm not necessarily interested in opinions about what is suitable for crashworthiness, because I think that's for the individual car owner (and the DOT, Department of Transportation to those outside the U.S. which is the government entity here that specifies what can be on the road for headlights and bumpers and such). I am aware that the bumpers are different. If I get rear-ended by an SUV, neither bumper is going to make much of a difference.

So, I'm looking for either a european bumper or the "bar" that the skin is attached to that I can bolt onto my car. I am still looking to understand whether the aftermarket fiberglass cover is meant to be put over the stock european skin or if it is intended to be put onto the "bar" with the skin removed, if that is even possible.

                          Answers for you...

The skin on the Euro bumper cannot be removed like the DOT cover can.
The FG cover you want too mount will need to have attachments fabbed for it. You will need a bodyshop to make them up for you. You can try to get the metal strip out of a Euro bumper but in the end, you will probably destroy the flimsy metal that is in it.
The metal strip is used to mount the metal brackets and thats all. Bonding to the fiberglass to be used on your car is another story. Good Luck.
