    cheeky stealer!

Just doing my usual sweep of autotrader and i noticed a strangely familiar RS2...

Its this one from eBay a few weeks ago, which sold for a bargainous £9,999.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1995-AUDI-Pors...QQcmdZViewItem

Now being sold on the trader for......

    £14,750!!

Cheeky! Wonder what he'll get for it....

yeah, but where? if he gets even close to the asking price (which i can't believe he will, but you never know), i think i'd be grudgingly slapping him on the back rather than about the chops. Would be interesting to see how he would respond to questioning about an almost 5grand mark-up though :mischeif:

Maybe a new career beckons for me.....

            What a mark up!

I exchanged a few emails with the chap that sold it and it needed about £4k's worth of work doing!

This included, new discs and tyres and I quote "Brake caliper spring plate servicing and caliper painting - probably about another 900 quid to cure squeaks and whines."

So unless they have been addressed be prepared to ask about 4k less!!

Cars are primarily priced on mileage first and then condition/history second,IMO it should be the other way round. The majority of dealers however will give all sorts of BS in what ever it takes to get the car for as little as possible. In a very rash moment when I, for all of acouple of hours, fancied a TT, a dealer offered me £5.5k on my old Rs2 - the excuse being it was old, had expensive brakes to replace, so was not desirable, and were also hard cars to sell on

I tend to find that the most Rs's with miles south of 100k are upwards of £14k. I sold my previous Rs for £10,700 with 177k. I know of another couple that have gone for between £10-11K with upwards of 150k miles.

Anything in the middle then would suggest that they fall between £11 - £14k. However you do get some that are priced optimistically, again IMO, like the one Flossym' has pointed out, especially when the likes of Pete Rs2's has recently gone for the same sort of cash.......

Yeah, that was what got me interested Simon - the description on autotrader bears little resemblance to that on the ebay advert - you'd swear blind they were two different cars. Maybe one month + heavy valeting (+ spring for the brakes) later = £4751 quid more for an "as-new" car. hmmnnn...

The one on the trader has obviously had a hard life. If it was owned by an enthusiast it would not have carted the family around for 6 years, had roof rails and would be in better nick....

Fair play to the dealer for trying. It's what they do. I just feel sorry for the poor (in luck, not wallet!) person who stumps up £14k for a car needing £4ks worth of stuff doing to it rather than the £10k it was worth. Even if the stealer does do the work, what are the chances of it using genuine VAG parts and being carried out with the care and attention required on such a rare and complicated car?

The original owner said in his e-bay add that the car has a "Garrett K28 turbocharger", so perhaps not quite as the trader add says "Standard with no modifications ". But maybe the original owner just didn't know.

                              And what's more....

I originally contacted the owner about a year ago cause I'd seen it for sale on the Porsche 924 owners club. Since he'd owned it he had renewed an Audi warranty every year. £1200 a year! That's gotta hurt.

I did want a Polar Silver one, and the reg number was perfect for me and the wife: but I was quoted £16k when I enquired.

Now I'm glad I bought my Ragussa Green one!

If potential buyers know their stuff the stealer should have it for a while.
