Not really about respect though is it....?

I can understand not bumping up the price if someone else is bidding - but If there is something I want, I'm not going to stay out of an auction so that someone else can get to an item I want for an amount I'm willing to pay (just because they say they'd be willing to pay more).

my view - its an auction and I'll snipe it if I want it!

more to the point - why do people bid early on? All that does is bump up the final price as people keep trying to 'win' mid-week. Just leave it till the last minute and bash on your top bid. Now that's be helpful!
