I'm sorry you are getting a new RS4!!!! You lucky lucky thing!

The car looks beautiful, I am sure you will sell.

Have you tried Pistonheads too? Its free and a great place to advertise such cars.

    Good luck

    Cheers,

    Steve.

I agree with Steve. There's three others on pistonheads at the moment. Two LHDs - "Darreni" 's from this forum, and PP's from RS246.com. One RHD, too, which doesn't look in half as good nick as yours

Could not agree more - a fact that VAG Parts can confirm in my case

          Hello all,

Quite interested in moving to an RS2, having just sold my '88 911CS.

With all due respect, can someone tell me why this car is 4k more than the one for sale on RS246.com, the Ragussa Green one for 11950.

Seems to be a huge discrepancy in prices, with some opinions suggesting FASH is not worth that much, with such a specialist car that is.

As I say, new to the RS2 game, I really don't mean to offend anyone!

          Cheers

            Hi again Shirish,

firstly, not sure that David's is FASH - although you may have checked with him about that. Secondly, i think the one over on RS246.com has quite a few more miles? For some strange reason, 100K miles seems to represent something of an "invisible line" for the price of cars. Depending on the mileage you do each year, the difference between a car with 85K on the clock and 120 or whatever may be quite significant. For me, for example, i think it would represent 6 years motoring (!!) and therefore would matter a lot to me. However, if you're planning on clocking up 20K a year then the difference is minimal but the gains from buying a higher mileage one may be big for you.

It must also be remembered that pricing any 11 year old car with this many miles is highly subjective and depends almost entirely on what a buyer is willing to pay. There is no "book price" worth speaking of for these cars - you spend what you think the car is worth to you, not what some anonymous book tells you its worth. This is made apparent by the discrepancy between our perceived value of these cars and that of insurance companies on certain occasions - see other recent posts on this forum!

I'd recommend you talk to the owners, and go and look at the cars. Maybe then you'll se why there's a price difference. Alternatively you may not, and you can walk away with a 5 grand saving. Bear in mind, though, that if you buy an "un-sorted" RS2, it could EASILY set you back that much to put it right.

            Good luck!

            Tim

Cheers Tim, all very pertinent points.

Its funny, the 100k mark, same thing applies to 911 too and prolly most other makes too. Think its carried forward from 20-30 years ago when cars would expire around this mileage.

Agree, best thing I can do is to go and look at a few examples - if anyone in/around London has a spare couple of hours on a weekend, would love to discuss the finer points of their chariot!

              Cheers

Certainly, going to see a couple of these cars helped me no end!

I've been looking seriously for one for about 4 months now (and following the "market" daily for 18 months) and it has really helped me (I think) to have seen a couple owned by forum members, especially people not trying to sell their cars. I got to see/hear what a variety of RS2s sound like, and get pointed round the bits to look out for on the car. Its one thing reading about the stuff, its another entirely having all the bits poitned you so you know what to look for, and where to find it, when you do it for real. The information, experience and confidence I gained was absolutely invaluable, and has helped me avoid making one duff choice already. cheers Angus, Darren et al.!!

A word of warning, though. Try to see at least one NOT for sale before you go to see one for sale. If you are anything like me, the excitement and desire to buy one of these babies is intoxicating and it is very, very tempting just to buy the first one you see.... whether it is truly what you have set out as your prerequisites or not! thankfully, I made myself checklists BEFORE going - and unless i get all the right ticks i will not buy! If i hadn't seen a few first i suspect that i would not have been able to resist as i wouldn't have known that there are better examples out there!

that said, i am often tempted to give half-ticks rather than crosses ..... these cars tug at my heart-strings like nothing else!! I just wish i could find the right one...

Tim,out of interest, what was you looking to spend on one ?

I really do wish I had your attitude towards buying a car. I tend to get a rush of blood to the head The frustrating thing about S/RS 2's is that some weeks there can be several potential purchases, and others you are lucky if there is a couple...
Definately worth holding out for the right one though............

                    hello Guys,

she is fash to around 45k

When I fistly got the car I took the car to Audi in Slough, who (as most audi dealers do) did not inspire me with the greatest confidence........

Quotes of "how did yer get the porsche brakes on there mate ?!?"

I left feeling and thinking do I really want to let these technicians touch it. Anyway to cut a long story short I was introduced to "The Autopool" in Iver, who take pride in knowing the ins and outs of all Audis! My confidence in garages was completely restored, hence the reason all work carried out on that car is by them.

So really fash was to 45k and the proper servicing started at around 46k ! with clutch replaced at around 65k and timing belt replaced less than 10k ago, oh and brakes all round were done less than 2k ago.

Shrish If you want a few pointers or a peek give me a shout, I am in no real hurry in selling the car, I might just tuck her away till spring arrives...... so I wont put you under any pressure. ps now you are an official member you do get your s2forum discount. !

David, was there a particular reason for the clutch change?

They replaced the hydraulic clutch cylinder thingy at the same time, they said the clutch was rather worn out and apparently they are only good for 60-70k ? I dont know if thats correct I just remember handing over quite a few hard earned pounds.....

                          Hi David

Sorry to hear you're selling your RS2 but what a nice reason! Tell us more about the spec for your new toy!

I've just posted asking for recommendations re places to get my RS2 serviced now my local guy has sold his business. So I guess your vote is for The Autopool. I actually rang them this morning to get a quote for some work - waiting to hear back re costs LOL!

In my searches i've only heard of a couple of clutches being changed..... but i've also been in a couple of RS2s where the clutch felt decidedly ropey, relative to the others. I guess it really depends on how the car has been driven by the owners over the years. If you tend to ride the clutch a bit then 315bhp/302lb ft is gonna wear it out sooner or later. Its certainly something i'd look at on a car because i really like the clutch to feel smooth and positive rather than like i'm stepping on a cardboard box every time i change gear.

Maybe that makes me a bit of a girl .....

basically i disaggree about having to change the clutch around 60-70kmiles which is 112654Kms.

I have never read anywhere of a clutch to have been changed on an RS2 for less than 170Kms 9around 105Kmiles.if it had to be changed earlier this means it was probalby abused

I only handed over the pennies, would the slave cylinder not contribute to a faster wearing clutch?
