This car has a full service history with Audi dealers up to 80k and specialists (Autotechnics, Gillingham and Robert Cockings Motor Repairs (RCMR), Yeovil) thereafter.

I'll go over the upgrades in detail. When I first got the car it felt floaty and a bit like it was on stilts. I was obvious the dampers were shot so I did some research and decided the Konis were the way to go. Since the car was very understeery I decided the H&Rs lowering the centre of gravity 30mm would help (they did). While I was paying for all that I did the PowerFlex upgrade, another top mod in my opinion - no noticeable increase in noise, vibration or harshness but far more precision and more response either side of the dead ahead position. These upgrades transformed the car - it still pushes wide in extremis but is very roll free and precise and the Michelins grip like mad. It is firmer than a standard car but no firmer than a modern Beemer or hot hatch. If you are thinking of buying an 80,000+ mile car without these items recently replaced I would be cautious.
The air filter seemed an obvious step at the first service under my ownership. I had a play with Denso Iridium plugs but quickly reverted back to the standard ones. The ignition system on this car is massively over engineered - Dahlback racing apparently run a 1000 BHP race car with the same coil packs... but I'm teaching you guys to suck eggs here I'm sure, I'm writing this mainly for a potential eBay ad but though I'd give it a week on here so it can stay in the family as it were!
The clutch linkage went just after we came back from holiday in Ireland and it turns out someone had mistakenly fitted a far thinner connecting bar - this was upgraded to a beefed up Audi spec. item.
The Big Reds came next when the existing callipers corroded began to impede the movement of the pads - the handbrake, always a little temperamental on these cars, was even worse as the handbrake drum in the rear calipers was rusty. A refurb was possible but more than half the price of the full Big Red upgrade. Tom C got me a stunningly low price on a brand new set of Big Reds and about £2k later (including labour), wonderful firm, responsive brakes and a much improved handbrake. At this point Tom mysteriously disappeared on holiday to the Bahamas for a fortnight
Having seen an increasing number of HID equipped cars on the road and several on the S2Forum I decided to take the plunge and found a very competitively priced upgrade from HIDS4U. I had this fitted by Tom and they are superb, a very high contrast white colour with the merest hint of blue and using high quality sealed Hella ballasts. Tried 8000k bulbs - rubbish too much UV not enough visible spectrum, fitted 6000k - spot on!
The other bits and bobs require little explanation. The Woodstock DAB52 has an orange and blue display which perfectly matches the red back lighting of the instrument binnacle. The speakers are far better than the OE junk we removed and I've put speaker mesh over the front speaker grilles (the original items are virtually airtight!)
The engine pre-heater is great on a frosty morning - 20-25 minutes and you have a working heater and demister when you get into the car. The installation for plugging it in is another neat job by Tom - you have to lift the bonnet but you can shut it again while it warms and the socket is invisible. You can leave it plugged in all the time of course but unless you live in a country with hydro electricity I wouldn't recommend that - it spikes up to 13 Amps at startup!
KNOWN PROBLEMS: Cracked lenses on the front parking lights, a rattle from up front when really cold, a blown bulb in the fuel guage... the paint has a few scratches here and there but puzzlingly few dents (built like a tank see!) that's about it really. It's in for it's (10,000 mile interval) service on 10th March at RCMR.
All original badges are present and correct as are the Porsche wheel centres. This is one of the coolest things about this car - watching people's faces when they see the badges and have no clue what they are looking at!
We have the original paperwork and the pouch it came in plus most bills from the previous owner and all of ours. Locking wheelnut key is present and correct along with three ignition keys and the number tag for getting copies made.
Why am I selling? Two things really, first is that I've had it for two years and fancy a change, the second is that I found a dream car at a good price... I'll tell you what it is if I get it!
As you all know these cars are becoming rarer by the year and beginning to appreciate in value... I am actually tempted to put it in storage but I can't afford it and I think that sort of thing is a waste - it's there to be driven... depending on mileage you could get a year's free motoring out of this!
