I called them and asked them to remove it, but they haven't, so I've registered a complaint with the ASA.

                  - really? does it really matter if they've borrowed a picture without asking?

I've had it happen to myself once on eBay, but it's just flattery / laziness. Not exactly something to get worked up about! I find it quite funny that they've used a pic of a green car to advertise their blue one!

Lazy, flattery, whatever... it's still unprofessional and doesn't make it right. As Clark says, someone may go to look at it expecting the car in the photo.

Would it be the same if the ad was on tv?

I have to agree with Bibby for a car advert on autotrader it's really unacceptable, and i would class it as false advertising.

                        Yep. Out of order.

I would be well pissed off if I went to view a car that was different to the one pictured.

I would be even MORE pissed off if someone pretended to sell MY car!

                        Cheers,

                        Steve.

It wouldnt be quite so bad if it clearly stated that the car in the picture isnt the actual car like car giant do

All they needed to do was put 'library picture' or similar (still cheeky mind). Otherwise it's mis-representation, especially with the different colour and unique alloys.

                              First post here .....

I actually went to see and drive this car yesterday (the one advertised - not the one pictured).

I have to say the car itself was in stunning condition - impeccable hsitory, etc, etc .... I honestly could not fault it - except for 1 thing ........

The ad clearly states "ac/climate control", which as you can probably guess does not.

I was well peed off (circa 50 mile journey).

But the car itself was stunning. Oh, except for the alloys - it looks like 1 or 2 of them have been touched up with silver paint.

Edited to add: I am oh so sold on it - bar the flippin A/C. I'd have paid there and then

                              K
