Your bilsteins would be fixed rate so no adjustment and with the H&R's can be very firm and almost uncomforable on pot holed roads but as Steve says changing the top mounts wouldnt make much difference.
I guess you could run your bilsteins with a set of standard springs to soften things...?
I didn't notice a harsher ride when fitting the QSR top mounts. I did notice the front end was crisper and provided a little more feedback. It could be that these mounts don't combine well with some suspension/wheel/tyre combinations. I have Koni springs and dampers with Powerflex bushes.
The H&R springs are significantly stiffer than stock, they would definintely be the primary cause of harsh ride over rough roads. I have them (with Koni dampers) and I'm used to it (have 17 alloys too), but they are VERY firm.
I'd say if you're not happy with the ride get less stiff springs. Maybe go back to stock springs but keep the uprated dampers? I think Newsh has that setup?

I can vouch for stock spring and Bilsteins. It is a lovely firm ride but not at all "crashy".
Cheers,

I've been in Rotoryboys car and Ants car, both have lowered springs but Mark has koni shocks and Ant Bilsteins and the ride difference is quite alot.
I've had Bilsteins with H&R and Koni springs and it's too harsh for everyday driving although gives great handling
At some point i want to try Koni shocks with standard springs instead of Bilsteins and standard springs to see if it's even more suited to city driving.
I guess it's all preference and what you get used to, I'm happy with the firm ride the H&Rs give but I can fully appreciate that others would find it too stiff for London's pot-holed and speed-bumped roads.
I went out with Newsh in his car - he has stock springs with uprated dampers and that does give a softer ride vs. my H&Rs whilst still feeling under control if you know what I mean? Newsh is on 18s.
