Looking to buy an avant

Hi folks.

Great site.

I've decided to grow up and get a 'proper serious' car after years of Mk1 golf fettling! S2 avant it is then.

Has anyone got any tips for buying, other than those on the buyers guide page?

Also has anyone looked at, or know of, the green Avant in Sutton advertised on Autotrader? Could save me a trip if it's duff.

Martynf, is that a TRX i see? Damn fine bike!

Make sure a free pair of slippers and a zimmer frame are included in the deal.

There is a hell of a lot of info on the site on buyers guide so geting extra info would be challenging.

All i can say is.. read through the notes and inspect the car properly paying attention to tappet noises as this can lead to engine rebuild.

The entire site is excellent, but the buyers guides are the best around.

Even better take it out for a long hard test drive about 30 minutes to
an hour about 10-30 miles in all road traffic conditions. Take a friend
with u and always follow ur nose. If it doesn't feel right walk away.
U have nothing to loose.
Another trick is take it for an MOT if u can that day, that way you
know they r going to check everything £30 well spent.

PS: avants have improved rear suspension set up to coupe. I know.

Cheers Luke, yes it is indeed a TRX, 98hp at the flywheel with lowered gearing top end of only 130 because it bounces off the rev limiter in top gear, but man does it get there FAST!

Don't know about the green one in Sutton, but what Charlie says about taking it for an MOT if you can before committing is a superb idea!

Avant for sale?

Seriously considering parting with mine? dont want to but i doo tooo many miles to be able to afford the fuel!!

Emerald Green 95 ABY Avant 111K Stock bar RS2 Turbo runnin 330 BHP and 475NM recently on the RR. (i do have a figure @ the wheels for guys who arnt comfertable with the calculation results on RR's but cant remember it. Got 6 runs on the RR printed to show if interested? Also got "NEW" RS2 EM with all gaskest nuts etc (just bought from lee not unpacked yet damm!) not fitted and a S/H RS2 IC also not fitted yet. These two are for sale seperatly or for a deal witht the car? Also got two complete RS2 front struts from marco which are still with Martyn yet. Also for sale or as a deal with the car?

Open to offers? not really thought about a price yet but iam not gonna give it away mind so sensible offers please! PM's welcome!

I think I shall stick with as standard a car as I can get my paws on - Ive done the modifying thing to death with the golfs - but thanks for the offfers.

How do you keep the front end down Martyn?:eek2: I have enuf fun on my stock trx.

Didnt get to see the Sutton car this weekend. Maybe next week.
