Alcon is a very well respected make of clutch in Jap circles.

Alcon is a designer and manufacturer of specialist ultra-high quality, brake, clutch and other automotive components for OEM, motorsport, defence and specialist vehicles.

            Organic Disc
Newly developed asbestos free friction facing is used which has high heat resistance and high burst strength characteristics. Superior in shift operations and half-engagement, this clutch disc is recommended for street sports use. We recommend using this product with our reinforced clutch cover.

Yep but organic sure you dont mean cerametallic.

                Quote from Alcon web site

                clutches
In developing its comprehensive range of clutches, Alcon's blueprint was to design and manufacture the "best available range of race and rally clutches"

Our experienced competition clutch engineers are equipped with the very latest in CAD and finite element analysis packages to ensure designs are optimised in all critical areas of performance.

The Alcon range of clutches is available in carbon/carbon, sintered and cerametallic variants ranging in size from 200mm, through 184mm (7¼"), 152mm (6"), 140mm (5½") to 115mm (4½") with single and multi-plate options and a variety of spring loads and ratios. All clutches have been designed for total interchangeability with current flywheel mounting patterns.

Teams competing in saloon car, single seater and endurance racing have the option of carbon/carbon or sintered clutches depending on regulations and application, while those contesting rallies can select either carbon/carbon or cerametallic, again according to intended use.

To prolong life expectancy and deliver maximum value for money, Alcon is able to provide a clutch reconditioning and a technical support service.

Did not notice organic maybe I missed something. Organic I just think of overpriced eggs coverd in chicken s**T

I'd say it is, but there are always stereo types to alot of cars.

Rover = Pipe & Slippers for example.

Any idea if Alcon do clutches to suit the S2's?

Well I like evos! But I also prefere being able to sneak under the radar (and noise-dar !) in my S2! I'd love to have an Evo, but as an everyday car I think I would get annoyed at people constantly trying to race me! Although both are near to 2.0l, turbo'd, 4wd, 4 seaters, they really are very different. I've no doubt that the evo is quicker point to point, but try doing that for several hours and I think the audi would be more fun, as you would revel in its seemingly effortless and constant performance. Evo for a short blast, audi for a trans-europe express!

I supose the best way to describe them, an evo is very quick and certainly as fast and loud as it looks, but these Audis really are SO understated its untrue!

Thats my 10pence anyway! I'm sure theres a mid-life crisis person on here who might want it!

Now... someone buy my clio please http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17141

Thanks for the free BTTT and being just about right re your comments, one thing I would like to add is that I have owned and driven lots of performance cars but nothing even comes close to an Evo for out and out raw performance/handling

                            really?
...... I am not one to judge other cars so much unless I have driven them or owned them
                            I like all performance cars

but I tell you what ... I can keep up with an evo and mines only chipped!!... I only test my machine against other cars to see the difference. So far Im really pleased..

But I do like in your face sort of stuff... this audi's suttleness is growing on me tho

I wanted to buy a reliable fast car for cheap money... I bought this through research and advice. It also had to have a turbo

Since then I have been very pleased .. and can now consider the possiblities.. because, if its this good almost standard... then what then when its modified?

PaulM, obviously i don't know how your Evo performed compared to your S4. However, i doubt that your Evo would have eaten your S4, at least in a straight line, half as much as you think it would. I suspect that your feelings on this are because although the S4 doesn't feel like its going that quick, it is. In contrast, Evos and WRXs etc feel like they're going much faster much earlier because of (a) old school boost, (b) noise etc and (c) being nowhere near as comfortable to be in. It would be very interesting to pitch your old car against your new one . B5 S4s are much smoother, Evos are raw.

just my 2p, and no doubt totally wrong!
