My wife regularly gets 35 mpg out of her 8v MKIII golf gti, so they are not too bad. I would not get so hung up on MPG, as the cheap cost of parts, cheap servicing and cheap intial purchase price will make more difference over a potentially more expensice newer diesel. IMO

            Cheers,

On occasion I saw 44mpg on the computer in my old '89 Mk2 GTI on a long motorway cruise. Can't argue with that really!

                      Cheers Guys

The Kadett in the Background is my Latest project :mischeif:

Its a Flat front rather than the "Droop snoot" Chevette

Weighs 800kg with 50-50 weight distribution

Full Tarmac spec suspension and a 4 linked live axle with plate LSD out back

Oh and a Supercharged 1600 16v all ally Zetec SE (Yamaha) engine on full DTA S60 ECU

                      220-250hp and 800kg

Engine is being built on the bench at the moment

I can put a thread up in the Projects section if you are interested ?

As for the Golf, Jamo, not sure about MPG...... TBH its not something that concerns me greatly.... its a lot better than the 10v 90Q that I was driving

I am based in Warwick/Leamington Spa during the week so I could bring the car up next week with me if you wanted a look

Every time I get an 8v VW i hate selling them on as they make excellent road cars, reliable economical, quick enough to be fun, cheap parts, easy to fix etc etc

Last week I was in this one all week and I got home thinking "why am I selling this ?"
Jane used it on Saturday and wanted the engine putting in the convertible

But I picked up a New Renault Traffic van as a Daily so this is surplus to requirements now.....

We still have a Golf Syncro 4wd for winter in the Alps and an 8v Golf 3 Cabrio for jane in the summer..... just love em

Let me know if you want me to bring it up next week ?
Its not Mint but it is Cheap and Tidy....... couple of weekends work would see it very nice indeed
