    Cheap but good RS2

The best car I've ever owned has to go due to change of work meaning 20K+ miles a year. I'll try to give a full and frank description including all the things most sellers usually leave out!

LHD, RS Blue, black leather interior/carbon trim 186,001KM (I convert that to 115,575 miles), 17" Porsche Turbo alloys with 4 newish Michelin Pilot Sports, FSH (Audi Germany and UK to 2003, then specialists). New MOT on the 21st December 2006 and taxed until June 2007.

1000 miles ago the car had a full service including plugs, brake fluid change, coolant change. The topmounts were renewed, the bushes front and back were renewed. It had an air con rad/pipes replaced and regas in August 2006. Wheel bearing replaced in April 2006, brake discs and pads front and rear in Jan/Feb 2006. Coolant expansion tank replaced December this year as a precaution-wasn't actually needed in the end but it looks better under the bonnet.

Other little things I've done on it are, new set of RS2 mats, replaced all lighting on the clocks and fixed exterior temperature display lighting.

The interior of the car is very good indeed bar a few light scratches on some of the plastics near the handbrake. Exterior paint is good, bumpers have no cracks in them, neither do any of the light lenses. There are approx 3 light scratches on the drivers side passenger door. These look to have been caused by someone dragging their bag down the side of the car- probably when I was on a ferry. There are a couple of other little chips on the same size- no bigger than a couple of matchheads. The side skirt on the drivers side rear door is slightly misaligned at the edge-about 4mm and probably needs refixing. There is also a one inch scratch on the top of the rear bumper- previous owner did this, presumably when loading. There are also a few other smaller, hairline scratches on the top of the bumper, again the result of loading. Looking at the passenger side it's more or less scratch and blemish free- remarkable for a car of this age. I can provide pictures of these minor blemishes if required.

All the electrics work fine ie windows, mirrors, lights, aircon etc. That said the drivers window sometimes stops 3/4 way back up, I believe this is the infamous relay fault having discounted the switch (I tried a different one-same result) which is just a case of replacing said relay- a cheap job from a scrapper I believe. In the meantime I just wait a few seconds press the button and up it goes. Also the oil temperature auxilliary guage doesn't seem to get much past 70 degrees- I believe this is probably a sensor fault.

Other than that the car is fault free.

I want in the region of £9700 pounds for it, offers most welcome. Contact by private message in the first instance if you're interested.

Had a trade in offer for it so price is now reduced to reflect this. £9000 reasonable offers considered.

This has to be one of the cheapest RS2's with recent full service, bushes, new brakes and every other consumable replaced recently. Some dealers is going to make money selling this back to Germany.

1995, the car was only made for 2 years.

I'm about to trade this in to a dealer though so it won't be for sale for much longer. As I said offer around the 9 grand mark will buy a car that's had all the expensive stuff done to it and is driving like a dream. Test driving a modified MKV Golf GTi yesterday made me realise just how slow most other cars are in comparison to the RS2. I'm going to be sad to see her go wish I could afford to keep and run 2 cars really..........

Agreed the law is an *** but to import it in Holland would cost 1000 euro-ish and less to France or Germany as it's ready to re-register.

                      More pictures

and finally a picture of it on the OEM Audi/Porsche Design 90 alloys with new Dunlop SP sport Winter tyres I'm using at the moment- these can be bought for an extra £200 on top of the purchase price if required. The tyres alone cost £90 each.

Note the car isn't washed in any of these pictures and is presented in honest 'warts and all fashion'

Update, went mad with the polish yesterday and the scratches mentioned in the description are practically gone. Amazing what a bit of elbow grease can do.

Had a guy from Harrow ring me last night wanting to buy my low mileage LHD RS2.
Told him it had gone, but mentioned yours on S2 Forum likely to go at trade price. He said he'd get in touch, but if you are interested, his number is 07944456562
                          Cheers

Thanks for passing my details on, I'll give him a ring.

Took the car out for a drive in the snow early this morning. It's awesome with the 16" design 90's and Dunlop SP Winter tyres. It grips like ******y while every one else is slithering around. To be honest I'm starting to wonder if selling it is the right thing to do, especially so cheap. Maybe I should just buy an old Mondeo diesel for schlepping around in?
