  • OE Front Seats - Black cloth (Jacquard Satin)

    I am struggling to put a price on these, so apologies if I am a bit off the mark. Both genuine black (anthracite) quattro embossed jacquard satin cloth. Born early 1993.

    The right (UK drivers seat) definitely needs a refurb - at 140k miles the outer bolster is needing repadded, but the actual seat base and the back are perfectly fine. The more obvious problem with the driver seat is the water stains from years or dripping door seals, sunroof etc. There is no escaping that fact - this seat looks fugly, but the right man with right fabric would have it 100% re-usable.

    The left (UK passenger) seat is in really nice condition - its had nothing like the use of the driver side. I just noticed the white spec in the photo - thats not a tear or paint etc - just a little piece of white plastic dust. Happy to take more or close up pics front and rear for anyone interested.

    Both seats adjustment mechanisms work as they should - no problems there.

    Prices (plus shipping):
    GBP 25 - Right / Driver
    GBP 90 - Left / Passenger

    I cannot bring myself to throw these seats out - happy to negotiate a better price with forum members so they get a 2nd life, but if they don't sell as they are - I might actually look into getting them 'upcycled' into office chairs.

      Yeah it is quite lush actually - but shipping is a right pain unless you are getting a whole pallet worth of stuff... unless somebody else in your part of the world is after anything else large-ish.

          shipping should not be too bad actually, split the top from the bottom (5 second job on these) and send it as two pieces via parcel2go.

              on the sides the plastic covers are just held on with small push pegs, push them through and the covers come off to show slide clips that pop off to allow you to lift the section. There is also a screw on each side that needs removing from memory. It has been a while since I took one apart but they are not a hard thing to split apart.

                This side shot of a pair of rs2 seats shows the covers, if you look closely at the covers on the seats you should be able to see the outline of the circle pegs just push them through and catch them as they fall out the bottom of the inside of the cover. Then the cover comes off if you gently pull on it as they are sometimes fragile with age. I think you can just remove the covers and pop the slide clips and the top section just lifts off, the screw bit I mentioned above either stays with the base now I come to think about it as it holds a rubber guide/bush.

                      david1980 - with your clues on those little trim pins I was able to get both front seats split into two parts. Cheers for that - it is very quick and easy when you know how. I was very careful with the little pins but the same bracket clip (one of six) on each seat was damaged on removal just with age and brittleness of the plastic. They are available separately so its no big deal and two of the three pins will easily hold the trim in place.

                      4846 + 4849 - on each side there is a plastic trim secured with three plastic pins - GENTLY tap these in towards the seat - they kind of fall out or get wedged - its very easy to loose a pin or break the clip. Also the pins are different on one side of the seat from the other - almost double the length on one side so take note of that.

                      4847 - thats what one side looks like when the pins are pressed in - just moderate pressure with a little punch

                      4848 + 4850 - on each side, simply pry off the clevis pin clip that secures the bracket

                      4851 + 4852 - the pin clips come off without much difficulty

                      Finally - easier with a 2nd pair of hands - get a pry bar on each side of the seat to work the bracket over the clevis pin - you need to lift the seat lever (imagine to access the rear seats) at the same time so it releases the rear jaw that locks the seat in place. Then the seat back just separates and you have two pieces.

                        Part numbers for the four trim panels in case anyone needs them - doesn't look like they come with the new "grip pins".

                        RIGHT SEAT
                        INNER = 893 881 464
                        OUTER = 895 881 464 A

                        LEFT SEAT
                        INNER = 893 881 463
                        OUTER = 895 881 463 A

                        The OUTER bracket has the longer grip pins 895 881 500 with colour code 01C for black/anthracite - other colour codes are available.

                        The INNER grip pins are the shorter ones 171 881 500 - these are only available in black (01C) code.

                            So I weighed these lead lined front seats - in total they are pretty much 22kg
                            The base is 12.2kg and the back is 9.7kg

                            That gives a UK shipping price around 40 quid regardless whether it goes as one box or two (per seat) - thats with Parcelforce 48hr service.
