Audi s2 s4 s6 twin plate kevlar road duty 500HP clutch and flywheel
Guys,
I have just fired a clutch and flywheel up onto ebay. Its a great road car clutch, as its not heavy, engages smoothly and therefore is easy on the drive train. Its starting at £1, so grab a bargain!
Alex, more information is on the advert on eBay. It's just been rebuilt by its original manufacturer to as new condition with new disks etc. It's a great daily driver clutch. It engages quite smoothly and isn't heavy and holds my stroker with efr 7163 maxed out without issue. It's everything the sintered Sachs unit isn't. The Sachs unit gets the job done, but it's aggressive.
This disadvantage of this unit is also it's advantage. Because it's not grabby it isn't ment for drag launches, and if deliberately slipped under a big load it will heat up and kill the Kevlar. Don't get me wrong you can launch swiftly with this clutch without issue, but it's not for doing 4 wheel burn outs, and can't/shouldn't be modulated under a big load. Basically I killed the Kevlar while towing. I had to reverse up a steep hill in a tight space with a car on a car trailer. After that the clutch was never the same and needed new disks.
What car and power/torque are you intending to use it on?
To ship this to the states won't be cheap. I would need to weigh the unit, but if you take 20kg as a starting point it wouldn't be too far away. If you want to price up a courier based on that weight a then let me know if you would like to proceed. Cheers des.
Hi Des, thanks for the info. It’s for a customers car, looking for a solution to hold 500+ lbft on the road with good manners - it was the slip engagement I was curious about.
Is it noisy I.e. plate chatter at idle & low load?

It's only makes a slight noise when you press the clutch in neutral. In gear or when you don't press the clutch it's quiet. The gearbox obviously chatters at low rpm due to the single mass flywheel, just the same as a Sachs racing on a 3b flywheel unit in that regard.
Alex is correct, it's a modified 7a unit. This clutch won't boot directly to a stock flywheel.

Was the 7a flywheel you gave them balanced other than OEM balancing for them to modify? By the looks of it the reference pin at the back is rather large. (That is the reference pin, isnt it?)
