Thought I'd add this here in case anyone is interested. I have an S5 V8 manual gearbox for sale.
This is the 0B4 with the front diff in front of the flywheel & clutch and so the engine can be moved back around 140mm.

Sure a lot of surgery is required as the steering rack is in the way.
I planned to move to a conventional steering rack mounted on a custom subframe in the wishbone plane to solve the bump steer problems with the stupid factory steering design. Sadly time isn't forthcoming and the project has been mothballed, hence it's just getting in my way now and I'm sick of smashing my shins on it!
