  • K24 7400 Hybrid Turbo & K24 7000 Componants.

I'm in the process of clearing all the stuff off my workbenches so I can get on with my MK2 Golf GTI restoration and it makes sense to list things I'm never going to require for sale as I go along. I have quite a hoard of KKK turbo componants as I went through a phase some years ago of building turbos. In particular converting Volvo K24 7400 turbochargers for use on five cylinder Audi's with external wastegates, so S2's, URS4/6's as well as all the various 10V turbo engines.

This was quite a popular hybrid turbo a few years ago and I sold a few of them, they're very close to an RS2 K24 7200 but not quite capable of same outright power, 360bhp is what they top out at with RS2 injectors or Bosch green giants, though 350bhp is a more realistic and safe output.

The turbo conversion involves sourcing a complete Volvo K24 7400 as base unit, fit a Porsche 944 #6 exhaust turbine housing, though these are now getting hard to source for a reasonable price. The coldside housing has the internal diverter valve removed and blanked off and there's an external lip on the housing exit which needs removing so an S2 etc hose fits nicely.

The center sections are the same so the oil and water hoses are a direct fit and once all the other work is done they bolt straight up to an Audi manifold and downpipe. However, the compressor inlet is a bit larger so one either has carefully stretch a stock MAF hose or use an aftermarket silcone one. I do have one 3B MAF hose already adapated to fit which I could inculde with the turbo, a 3B hose will also fit ABY's and AAN's etc with very minor work.

Anyway, after having a sort out I have enough parts left to put together one last K24 7400 hybrid. A crack free Porsche #6 turbine housing, a complete K24 7400 coldside, a decent centre section and a brand new turbine shaft and compressor wheel. So all the the componants required to put together one final K24 7400 hybrid, it would however require blancing and a genral check over by a decent turbo rebuild company of the buyers choice.

So I thought I'd see if anyone on here is interesed in it before I list all my K24 7400 parts as a job lot on eBay. £250, inluding delivery to mainland UK address.

Crack free stock S2 ect K24 7000 exhaust turbine housing. £50 posted.

A complete undamaged K24 7000 coldside, housing, back plate and wheel. £50 posted.

I've also got couple of complete Porsche 944 coldsides left over. £50 posted each.

I'm going to media blast all the housings at some point over the weekend so will take photos after that's done.

I'm also prepaired to send items anywhere in the world with a couple of exceptions. If your interested please ask for a quote, though please note buyers will be potentially liable to import charges.

I'm waiting for a dry day to get the sandblasting cabinet outside, I won't use it inside my workshop as I don't like the mess it makes...

Found all the bits, just need to sandblast the housings, got a couple of decent shafts and compressor wheels. Will probably assemble with the used items as they're genuine KKK and in great condition.

Along with an original Nothelle spec compressor wheel and back plate that I forgot I still had. Came off my 300bhp Nothelle 3B, got a K26 compressor housing to go with it, but it needs machining out. £60 for that lot.... Back plate, comp wheel and housing...

And a new K27 compressor wheel. I forgot the measurements off the top of my head but it's along the lines of 55mm/80mm. Will check and add to the thread.

I've just picked up an RS2 turbo with a high quailty billet wheel which fit's the stock housing and I'm extreamly impressed with the concept... It's a more modern 6 + 6 design and has considerably more surface area.

I've had a look and I can get a wheel made by the same company for the K24 7400, they're the thick end of £100 but well worth it IMO, would probably make the K24 7400 a 380bhp turbo with super fast spool. I could also get an aftermarket turbine wheel and shaft which would further update it, this would again be around £100.

K26 coldside sold. I have another couple though.

I've just purchased a brand new K24 7400 CHRA with a billet wheel fitted, it's British made not one of the cheap ones from China.

So the K24 7400 will come ready to fit and be a 380bhp turbo, if you bring the car for me to fit it it'll have a years warrenty.

It's now £500 including a MAF boot. Fitting will cost £100.

Pictures of new core and wastegate plug. Billet wheel with 10% extra surface area and modern design ballanced by Turbo Technics.
