Industrial Crank Locking Tool For 3B, 7A, NG & KV etc.

I have the bit's of scrap steel knocking about to make at least ten of these, and my welding is now much tider than on this example. This is one of the first things I made with my MIG around 20 years ago and has served me very well.

It's made from "1/4 plate for the body, the circular protrusion is "3/16's wall tube opened up and filed so it's a perfect fit into a clean harmonic damper. It sticks out "1&"1/8 and locates with zero play so is extremely secure.

The hole for the snub mount is slightly over size at "1&"3/8's to allow a little wiggle room otherwise it would be nearly impossible to install.

I made this one to change the cambelt on my 1992 NG Coupe, it locked up on the snub mount at bang on TDC on cylinder No one on that car, though I've found there can be about a degree of variation on other cars.

I've since used it on every five pot Audi I've changed the cambelt on as well as T4 Transporters but it's not designed to fit the desiel or ABY&ADU engines.

This version is suitable for 3B, 7A, NG, KV & MC engines, basically anything that uses the water pump as the tensioner.

It can also be made to work on the latter engines with a separate water pump. However, I will very soon be making an ABY/ADU specific version as I must replace my RS2's belt before firing it up again as it's starting to show it's age.

I will make them to order for members who have been on here a couple of years with no down payment. I will require a £20 non refundable deposit from new members.

The price is £100 including delivery to a mainland UK address. I'm happy to post abroad, though the price will vary depending on the country.

The ABY/ADU version will probably be the same price, though I need to make the first one before that's set in stone. The first one will be done within a month which will be my personal tool and act as a template for replication.

I will probably number them and I have a full set of letter punches if you want your name or anything else within reason written on it.

Okay mate, I'm pretty sure all I need to do is weld a bit of pipe on back of my existing design to slip over the snub mount as I recall using my current one ABY's with a thick screwdriver stuck in the end of the snub mount. Hopefully that's all that's required as it'll then be a truly universal Audi five pot locking tool.

The price will be the same as long a I can get some pipe the correct diameter, if I have to fabricate a custom diameter bit of pipe it'll be an extra £20.
