Guys (& Girls!!) I'm new here, but I need some info if possible. I'm interested in buying a '96 N plate S2 Avant, with 18" aftermarket rims, in Dark Metallic Blue, reg No. N686VEP. The car has FSH but very few receipts, so my question inevitably is, does anyone know anything about the history of this car? I'd appreciate the info before I commit to anything.
Saw your post on RS246 too. If I remember rightly, the car had a full main dealer service history.
The car sounds gorgeous. Hopefully someone on here will know the car. If not I'm sure there'll be someone willing to come and have a look and give you a second opinion.
If it has a full Audi Main Dealer service history, then you should be able to get confirmation of the work done by contacting Audi Customer Service.
My car had a stamp for an early service but no details of the work done. I contacted the dealer direct and they were very helpful and told me what work had been done. They also gave me the name of the person they'd sold car to fill in a gap in the ownership history.
The rest of the service book was stamped up and marked up for additional operations. Latterly it was serviced by an Audi specialist and there was a full set of receipts for this work.
Vehicle inspection that you trust from the RAC, read more to book an inspection to give you peace when buying a used car.
No. 1 to do is an HPi check...... £35 very well spent! Mine had £5,000 outstanding still at the point of sale !!!
Also - never trust a service book. Nearly bought a scirocco a few years back with a fully stamped book but little history. All the stamps were genuine VAG garages & were varied as you'd expect from a 100K car travelling about between owners.
Called VAG & they had not seen the car since 18,000

See how many old cars registrations you can rememebr and see if they are still going!
That's neat. The first three cars I owned have obviously gone to the great scrap metal garage in the sky. But my Dad's old Renault 11 is still around and has been with the same owner for 14 years!
They list my current car as an Audi Estate - is that 'cos she's a Q car - or should I be insulted!
Ta for your help folks.. unfortunately, STILL waiting to view the car, it apparently is in the workshop for a new throttle body sensor, they replaced it once, but the car is still not right, and the ECU is still chucking out the same fault code.
Anyone with any ideas give us a yell.. I'm keen to buy this motor having read all your owners posts!!

Sid, Aud1 was owned by Smith Knight Fay vw/Audi dealers in Stockport and was for a short time on a white short quattro in their Stockport showroom. I used to see the car every day I went to work.
The Quattro then had a different number and was sold after an exiting life as a showroom dummy ( Kraftwerk were German as well)
It was sold for £35K a few years ago.
They also had VW1 which was on a low mileage beetle in their Manchester Showroom at Pin Mill Brow.
