These thinks are illegal for good reason: the police use ANPR to catch criminals - driving whilst banned, driving without all the paper work, stolen car, written off car etc. Therefore anything which compromises the ability to read a plate (whether it be anti reflective spray, ridiculous italic fonts, moving the spacing to spell 'CHAV' or 'I AM A MUPPET' or using a German font is illegal and should be punished to the same degree as not having a number plate at all.
Just because the S2 was manufactured in Germany, does not mean we should use a German font. After all, you don't see Italian cars with the lettering made out of spaghetti, Ricer cars with plates in Japanese script or Yank cars with poor spelling on their number plates do you?
These and all other illegal plates simply draw attention to your car. I thought the whole point of an S2 was Audi build quality with stealth performance. If people want to draw attention to themselves then surely it is just cheaper to by a Corsa and put a drainpipe exhaust system on it.

Dude you obviously have a strong opinion on this matter but i don't see a german style plate in the same ballpark as any chav like behaviour. At the end of the day i like the way they look and i makes my poo itch the way the motorist in this country is such an easy target. Someone must have sat there and thought, these people are not conforming to exactly what we want so we will make a law up to stop it.
Its the thin end of the wedge and if this was aplied to every part of society we would all be wearing government issue clothes, with our number printed on them, eat only what we are told and sleep, ****, exercise and work exactly when we are told. Sound familiar? Like being in prison?
If my car and home were safe at night from thieves, footpads and vagabonds, and i wasn't constantly worried some idiot would do harm to my nearest and dearest and nothing would be done, i could swallow being persecuted for wandering slightly over the line on a font on a number plate. But the fact is, the country is decending into the carp and nothing is being done, my number plate is not signaling the end of society but there is a lot of other stuff going on out there that is.
We all break the law everyday when speeding and it is shown to increase the death rate on our roads but i don't see anyone being jumped on on here for 'going out for a spirited blat', i love driving and love my car and i don't want it to look like everyone elses. This is not illegal, its individual and we are becoming a dieing breed on the UK roads ppl.
