I think he means you can pull away from rest in 3rd gear (which you can).

The reason he is talking about third, is the clutch has not been replaced and he has managed to get it going on the starter and drive it in third!

Fair play if he can make a few grand by doing nothing.

            Cheers,

Jeeez - can't help wondering what's REALLY wrong with it (apart from the slipping clutch)

(I used to have a Triumph 2000 that had such a sodgy cliutch it could pull away in fourth with overdriive in)
              SOLD !

Have to say if this be true that this kind of thing seriously pisses me off, y'know undeclared accident damage. Maybe the car is fine now, maybe it's had a proper repair job and is actually straight, but it should be declared clearly instead of unfairly waiting for someone (who doesnt know what to look for) to shell out. I'm having this little rant because this seller MUST know it has had previous (my guess is he's gotten caught out himself and is now tryin to move the tainted goods) And IF he is unaware, he needs to tidy up the Ebay ad to reflect his new found info.
Don't get me wrong - I might well buy a properly repaired car, can be if the job is very well done there is nothing to worry about, but I'll pay what it is worth under those circumstances. It's getting worse - the last 5 motors I looked at, 3 of them had previous and always the sheepish "oh no, you're joking, aren't you..." ******** reply as the eyes dart up and to the left....

just to update - I asked this ebayer straight out if it had crash damage or not, reply:

"none that i know of and by lookign at the car im sure any1 would come to the same conclusion cheers"
