Hi all, came across this http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/313269.htm and am contemplating it as a second car. Looks very tempting at that price, anyone know any history? Bonnet fit looks a bit iffy, apart from that a lot for the money.
I am assuming it is an Ur S4 with RS2 bits bolted on...
Looks interesting. The cost of the brakes and RS2 bits alone could easily set you back most of the asking price. Looks to have had a late S6 leather/alcantara interior retro-fitted too, and an RS6 style front lower bumper. Could make for a swift and capacious vehicle for someone!
This has been for sale quite a while now so a bit of haggling could be in order.
Like its been said looks like its had lot of £s spent so would be a great buy.
Just called, it seems it's an Audi 100 2.8 V6 with later S6 / RS2 kit fitted... 911 brakes up front, S6 rear. The exhaust is off a TDI any thoughts on that?
Nice looking car, although I don't like the exhaust and it hasn't got climate control. I still think it's too pricey. That's clean S6 money and an original S4 could be found for an awful lot less. Everyone knows that you never get the money spent on mods back. I also reckon that a 2.8 V6 modded to that spec will be harder and more expensive to insure than an S4 with the same upgrades. Makes me wonder why they didn't start with an S4 in the first place?

Actually it does look like it has the not-quite-as-flared arches from the regular 100. Has an S4 instrument binnacle and centre console with S6 seats & door cards though, and the engine bay looks pretty factory. That's one hell of a lot of work!
Story is the engine went on the 2.8 (~118k) and a damaged S6 was already at hand (and various RS2 bits). THe conversion was done by the prvious owner, mechanic with his own business.
Well the insurance question does bug me - to declare all would be expensive, the V5 still states 2.8.
Hi, my brother pointed me towards this last night and I gave the chap a call today. Sounds to me like its had alot of work done on it, i am a bit worried about the mish mash of bits though! On the phone he said it was actually a RS2 engine running 330bhp but my brother said it doesnt look like one in the photos, looks like a S2 engine upgraded a bit? Its got a 5 speed box so wouldve thought its 3B.
Also the TDI exhaust worries me a bit... I dont know much about audis anyway. Is it worth the money hes asking? Does look tidy.

How much are the spare set of cup wheels that come with the car worth? Or how nice are they as if I am to buy i would either sell one of the sets. Or alternatively tell him to keep a set and drop the price.

Engine looks like a stock AAN or a ABY with AAN intake manifold to me... Cant see the turbo and ex-manifold on the pic.. that car wouldnt be able to get streetlegal over here. i say if you want a S4/S6 buy one. not a mish-mash of parts.
If it's got a 5 speed then chances are it's still using the V6 running gear. Those 5 speeds are not strong at all and that's with the pathetic 2.8 engine attatched. Someone's obviously gone to a lot of trouble to convert this car and they obviously had a wrecked S6 sitting around so why wouldn't they have swapped the transmission? Of course it could have been an auto S6. I wouldn't want to buy this car, certainly not for that money, as there are too meny unknowns and this car doesn't know what it is (S4,S6,V6??? ). The insurance will be high if you declare everything (genuine urS4 insurance is very cheap even with mods!!) and you'll surely need an engineer's report to get it covered properly which he may or may not have already. IMHO it's worth a few quid in parts but not a lot as it is. £2k at a push!! As Fish has said, if you want an S4 or S6 then go buy a proper one!
