    Cheap MAFs available.

    Hi all

I can get what I think (IMHO) are cheap MAFs.

The units are remanufactured (not just cheaply refurbed or repaired) by Bosch in Germany; so covered by full guarantee (refund/replace).

Price is subject to exchange of old unit only.

£100 plus P&P (I think that will only be about £5 for next day).

I can only get these once I have received the old unit, sorry.

I am the person receiving old units and sending new units.

Tell me if there is anywhere doing these units cheaper, and, if anyone is interested, and don't mind waiting, I may be able to get them even cheaper.

AAN, ABY and 3B available only, sorry.

what do you mean you are the person receiving the old units?Do we have to send you the old mafs in order to get the price above?Or if there is an old maf to be repaired then the price is further reduced?

The RS2 MAF is £116.06 plus VAT with forum discount at VAG parts.

£100 plus your old MAF is not a good deal IMO.

You send me your old MAF, I send you a, different, remanufactured Bosch unit.

Didn't realise VAGparts did them so cheaply, although £136 (inc. VAT) is still £36 more than the units I can get. Why keep an old broken MAF? Pencil holder?:mischeif:

            Who does them for £128?
Don't think RS2 ones flow that much more than the S2 model. Just take the gauze out of the S2 one if you wan't more flow.

Not reconditioned, remanufactured. IIRC They go through the original manufacturing process using old casings etc but with new importants sensory/electronic parts.

As I said, if I get a good deal of interest I may be able to get them cheaper!

I like the pencil holder suggestion

I hadn't realised the *new* price without exchange was so cheap at VAGparts recently - I know from other sources that prices had come down recently but that is mad. I'll see what other prices I can find.

I was trying to source the plastic screens separately, or have someone clone them - to properly convert an S2 MAF into an RS2 MAF if you like.

You need someone who can extrude plastic. S-Express, now is your time to shine.

£36 for new vs reconditioned..................................... .....

For such a complex part which when it goes wrong can cause no end of problems I'd rather pay the extra for a brand new part IMO.

Paul thats a good idea regarding the screen, whats your view on no screens on the MAF? ala the metal pipe installs that are becoming popular?

Not reconditioned, remanufactured! Basically a new unit using an old case. All electronics are new, with no moving parts or parts to become stressed before remanufacturing I'd say that it is basically a new part. Hence the normal exchange/refund guarantee.

I'd say £105 inc p&p compared to £136 plus p&p is a no brainer. I know I'd rather have the £36+ left in my pocket, and a new MAF on my car which will last just as long and perform just as well.

I'd prefer to go speak to martyn who's an ex forum top bod/parts guy and pay him for an rs2 one and be able to get a warrenty etc if I ever needed it.

Plus he's a good laugh to chat to
