Should i have broken up my S4 ???

I recently bought and sold a 1993 S4 Avant and was wondering if i could have made more money on the car by breaking it for spares as all the S2's seem to break for big money !!!

This one had 170k on the clock and drove faultless, had 6 months mot, 4 new tyres, 4 new shockers, recent front discs and pads, everything worked on it as it should and only real problem was a worn drivers door catch !

Had full leather interior as well in great condition.

How much roughly would i have taken out of breaking it can anyone tell me ???

    Car cost me £300 !!!

    £300!!!!

If you break it I may take some bits.

I'd strip it out and turn it into a track monster, or polish it and sell it on again for £1200.
You'd get a grand for the box (manual) and the engine I reckon.

N.B. Just realised you've sold it. Sorry.

I reckon you could take £1000 to £1500 depending how much demand there is for the parts mate. Do you still have it?

Tbh its best to see them sold whole unless its to audibits/urquattrob or someone else who just strips a car and rips people off.

You'd make £1200 for the engine easily.
leather £250-450 ish depending what condition/colour

rest of the car around £1000-1.5k

Looks like i could have made quite a bit of money breaking it then !!!

I cant really complain as i only had it for a week and sold it for 1200 so did alright considering i did nothing to the car, a guy local to me bought it to use the engine in his early model coupe that he uses for rallying so its gone to a good home and will certainly be put to use !!

I had it on ebay and had a fair few enquiries about the engine but didn't really have the room at the time to break the car so opted to sell it complete, its only after coming onto this forum i've realised how much S parts seem to fetch !!!

I knew for certain it was a bargain at the price i paid for it and the owner only wanted the price of his new tyres he was buying for his new A6 so i bit his hand off and bought it straight away before anyone else heard about it ! Not often you get offered such a bargain as this eh !!!
