This is pure economics. I don't have the time to run it as a weekend toy. I need a reliable family car that does slightly more than 24 mpg and IMHO it will cost me 4K to get into the condition I want it to be in.

I never anticipated my post stirring up such emotion.

If you

post up a few photos with a price and someone will buy the whole car from you, admittedly to possible use as a spares/donor car or they may decide to fix it and sell it on. Either way less hassle for you.

Mark, you're not the first to break a car and you'll not be the last so I wouldn't worry about upsetting us. You've got to do what makes sense to you, I think that we just like offering alternatives to try and keep these rare cars on the road. The irony is that we need cars to be broken for spares to get some of teh rarer bits for them that Audi, in their wisdom, have deicded we don't need any more... the swines!

David - I have posted a price for the engine - as I keep explaining I don't want to sell as a whole and intend to break the car unless I really cannot sell the engine.

BTW - anybody that wants pics can see the car in the posts for the southerners meet last month - or PM me and I will mail them to you.

OK, just to confirm, the engine pulls like a train and runs very well. A genuine 92,000 miles on it!!

And... it's SOLD.

Don't be too hard on Mark, there is ALOT of work that would need to go into the car, including replacement of most of the panels and a respray - much more sun, and it'll be barbie pink

He'll be back in S2 ownership in the not too distant future I'm sure, and in the mean time this engine is going to be breathe life into my Avant

@mark - with the avant stick a thread up with pictures of whats left i'm sure most of it will sell quite easily so that its not a waste with whats left.

Hope you end up with a car that pleases you in the end, possibly even another s2

Ross is taking the complete engine, airbox and MAF. All other components will be available in about a week (when it's replacement arrives). I will post a list of parts and prices when I take the Avant off the road.

It's a 94 ABY Avant with a certified 92K, black leather interior, 996 monos & is finished in Laser Red. I'll try and get some photos up later this week.

I know how difficult your choice was after speaking at the meet in Reading.....but hey the engine lives on Hopefully someone here can sort what is left to ensure the community maybe able to benefit from the rest either as it is or as parts.

May well catch up soon, seems like i have been earmarked to help with the removal of said lump

As soon as the car comes off the road next weekend I intend to post pics and prices for the reaminder of the parts.

I am glad the engine has gone to Ross and will help him to get his Avant back on the road.
