I've just been to have a look at this car today as it's in my neck of the woods. Looked a nice clean original car. Full history and loads of receipts. Felt pretty quick too

It's the 3rd RS2 I've looked at recently and all their VINs started WACZZZ rather than the usual WAUZZZ. When I tried to check the service history with Audi UK on the last one I looked at they said that WACZZZ meant it was probably an import How can this be as all the ones I looked at were all RHD ? Can anybody else confirm ? How do the VINs for the RS2 guys on here start ?

VIN numbers starting with WAC show that it is a genuine RS2. As the first three letters designate the manufacturer. As the RS2 was manufactured jointly by Audi and Porsche it has the unique VIN code starting WAC. This is one way to ensure that is a genuine RS2 and not a S2 looking like an RS2 that will have a VIN starting WAU.
Audi supplied S2 Avant bodyshells "in white" (i.e unfinished & without drivetrain) to Porsche who did the final assembly at their Zuffenhausen plant. You can check this further as the 11th digit of the VIN is the manufacturing plant code & this should be a "Z" indicating Zuffenhausen.

Audi UK obviously don't know their own VIN coding system - now does that surprise you !!!

If that was true all TTs would be imports as there VIN numbers start TRUZZZ. I have to talk to VW and Audi UK most days and it's scary how little they know about the cars they make.

VAG VIN numbers all use the same scheme to determine type, year, manufacturer etc.

            For example:

            WAUZZZ8CZRA123456

            WAU is the manufacturer

ZZZ is a fill section (in some countries these are used for emissions etc)

            8C is the type designation

            Z is another fill letter

            R is the model year

            A is the manufacturing plant

123456 is the number of the actual car

This concludes chassis number 1-0-1. There will be a test at the end of the semester
