I need to part with my Avant. I don't want to, and I'm nowhere near finished with what I wanted to do with the car, but personal circumstances dictate that I have to be sensible and an Estate car with no back seats is definitely not that.
The car
1994 (I think) L registered Avant (ABY, 6 speed of course)
199,400 miles
MOT 'til September 2009
Taxed until end of Feb 2009
Just about zero history (unfortunately) but all the work done on the car in my ownership has been done by me so I know what it's had and that it's been done to a good standard (no comments please)
Dark Blue (Pearl I think - LZ5T code from memory)
Bodywork not going to win any concours events but does come up quite well
Private plate (L3 DCA) included in sale
The spec/mods
17" Audi S6 Avus II wheels (ET35 - no spacers required) wearing Michelin PS2's
347mm Audi A8/Brembo brake conversion with Hi-Spec Monster 4 calipers and Ferodo DS2500 pads (front)
Homefried
KW V2 suspension fitted
Milltek cat-back exhaust
Carpet removed (have sourced a new one however I'm currently moving house so had no time to fit it)
Rear seats removed - still have them and will be supplied (Blue leather)
Front seats are Corbeau Boss recliners - very comfortable and very supportive, can be used with harnesses
Rear boot trims removed (sides and boot lid) - still have them and will be supplied
HIDs fitted
Aero wipers fitted
Carbon trim all round
Boost gauge fitted (stepper motor with remote boost pressure sensor)
Air con removed (still have it if you want it)
The background
I bought this car with the intention of using it for trackdays and fast road use. I have done 4 trackdays in it (I think) and it has been very, very good. The first one I did was with the car standard apart from the brakes and the car has progressed from there to where it is today. I haven't tracked it with the KW suspension on which is a real shame but it is unbelievable on the road so I imagine on track it would be 200% better than it used to be. As previously mentioned the car has no service history apart from 1 single MOT certificate previous to my ownership, and 2 in my ownership. I was always going to strip the interior out of it and so I did - the difference in the car is phenomenal. I never measured how much weight I took out but the difference in the speed of the car is quite something. I was going RS2+ with the car which was always the plan, bought the turbo etc but I have now sold that on and the car has to go.
In my ownership it has had (from memory):
A full set of coilpacks
Milltek to replace the knackered OE exhaust
Cam belt including all aux belts
Water pump
Several services
Hi-Spec Monster 4 calipers (have been rebuilt with all seals and boots replaced)
347mm discs (OE Audi parts)
2 sets of brake pads (front)
Rear pads and discs (OE)
Boost gauge
Polybushed front end
A good clean (and some paintwork correction/polishing with the Porter Cable)
Audi S6 wheels
4 tyres (PS2's)
New battery (and it will have another new one as the current one is dead from little use)
1 x track rod end
1 x lower ball joint
Aero wipers
A bonnet catchy springy thing
Replacement bonnet release cable grommet to stop it from leaking (the original reason that the carpet came out)
1 x thrashing
The bad points
It doesn't have any rear seats actually in the car. Although I have them
There is sometimes a puff of blueish smoke on gearchanges which I have never got to the bottom of, although the car has never gone better since I've had it
The bootlid has a ding in it
The front bumper has a slight crack in it behind the number plate
The rear bumper has some marks in the paintwork (damage)
Rear right arch has some surface rust
Front right arch has some rust near where it meets the top of the bumper
It's still stickered up from Scumball (although it is a rather amusing sticker job, to be honest I quite like it the way it is)
So. It's a lot of car, I've spent a fortune on it, and I don't want to sell it but the Mrs is due in 7 weeks and I've just bankrupted myself moving house. My insurance runs out on 18th Feb and I don't really want to reinsure it which makes it hard to take people out in it on test drives etc. The other thing is that the tax runs out at the end of Feb and as the insurance will have run out by then, you can't even test drive it on your own insurance if you don't come before the end of Feb!
It's a prime candidate for breaking (I've done most of the interior already
) but I don't want to see that happen obviously. I don't have many of the original parts that I took off when I put upgraded parts on so it can't go back to being a normal, standard family car. The car doesn't want to be that either, it wants to be DRIVEN.
A few of you may have seen it at ADI 2007 and Mallory 2008. Things to note are that the brakes are PHENOMENAL. I have made myself dizzy doing 100-0 on the test track. They really are that good. Oh, and it goes. Really quickly. It's standard engine wise apart from the obligatory Homefries but since it went on a diet it seriously flies especially once it's on the move.
I only have a couple of pics on this laptop and they're not the best but here she is:

So, today's a sad day and it will be even sadder when it goes off into the sunset. It won't be the last time I own an S2 I'm sure
I'm located near Mansfield and the car is currently tucked up in my Dad's garage. As mentioned I am moving house over the next couple of weeks so I'm pretty hectic but will make time for anyone who wants to see it. But please, no timewasters as time is at a premium at the moment
£3,795 ONO
Edit - the lights are no longer on the car
