I belive that! I'm the kind of guy that thinks nothing is impossible..... but, you know, England is not exactly "next door" to Italy

Anyway, if you're willing to spend some holidays around here I live a few miles from Assisi, in a region very rich of beauty and history (...and also great food and wine ), 100 miles from Rome and about the same from Florence.
So you'll be welcome as well as any other of this forum.

Well thats got that engine sorted then :-))

15 of us go and have the next S2 meeting at Marcos place. We have a long weekend with him enjoying the food and wine, then we take the 3B engine to pieces and load it into all the Avants to bring home for David :-)

      Sorted!

I'm up for it, anyone else?

Sounds good to me. We can show these coupe owners how useful our avant practicality is.

We'd best swap our slippers and tweed jackets for some open toed sandals and string vests. Otherwise us old men could suffer with the heat.

          Yeah, why not !

Italian peaple is nice and friendly, ... or at least I like to believe we are... (...well....actually not all of them... but any Country has good and bad people).

          Marco

P.S. I know you're kidding but..... if there is a serious interest for many of the items I have (among some of you), I think the deal we could find would greatly compensate for the long journey.

Martyn well thanks for the offer of your load carrier rocket ship for the engine. My route down would be autoroute, followed by a few cols just so we can fully use the power - always fancied the Stelvio pass myself in an S2.

As my mother is italian Marco - i fully appreciate the good wine, good people and good food

God i could do with a lottery win - i could quite fancy getting this engine and doing everything to her before putting it in my car so that its damn near new - not sure i have the funds at the moment though.........but you never know.

            Cheers,

            David

What a great weekend away this would be :-). Good points Ben!! damn, where are my string vests? oh, and my driving gloves :-)

Well, I think is a great idea :-)), I'm nearly out of ciggies so I'm due a French run, why not divert via Italy? Well I am COMPLETELY up for this - all joking aside!!!

The only thing that conecrns me is, X amount of S2's head out to Italy, how many would make it all the way there and back? I know mine is a bit dubious at the moment!

So who wants some of Marcos parts? I'm sure we can work out something here!!

All you old gits with your avants. MEND YOUR A/C!!!
I'll travel with my jeans and a jumper on. Ahh, cold and relaxed.
Just cos you lot can fit shed loads of crap in your boots. If my boot was big enough then i would just lob the engine in mine, complete. May affect the handling a little tho.

You know what this is all starting to sound a bit familiar.............

Bunch of cocky Brits go over to Italy in fast cars to come back with a precious cargo yep you guessed it this is becoming the Italian Job.

Better hope that the Mafia don't destroy 2 of the cars with a digger on a mountain pass

I can see the final scene now, Martyn's Avant with it's back end out over a steep cliff, 3B engine in the back sliding ever closer to the open tailgate, up pops Paul Nugent 'look lads I've got a plan if we remap........................'

Sometimes I even amaze myself at the crap that goes through my head :wacked:

                      Ciao

Actually maybe P Nugent should be the top dog character of Mr Bridger ,you know the leader and all that. So who would be Charlie Crocker (Michael Caine)?

I could play Professor Simon Peach (Benny Hill) 'cause I have a PhD
                              No, really I do.

                              I can't believe I just wrote that :eek2:

                                Marco,

How are you? I hope you and the family are all good.

                                Is that an RS2 or S2 ex-manifold?

How about those 2 pot brake calipers? Where do they come from? Are those Pagid Blue's for the calipers in the picture?

                                Drop me a line.

                                ciao,
