I bought my car as a primary use car, ie she would have to ride in it. No go. Nor would I sell it, so I bought a 1.8T Passat (1999), which she likes and keep the audi 'out of sight' for the most part.
Thats right. a civilised limo is what these wifes deserve. My wife drives my previous coupe, the 2,8 V6 quattro and I am happy that she doesn't long for the S2. The 1,8T is a super construction. Made in Hungary. (The engine) I was wondering what the wifes would say when we would take them to test the Ducati 996....

You could always remove the aux rad & bypass it as suggested here

As an engineer I like to keep certain things standard as it was designed. IMO there is an AUX radiator for a reason!!

Pictures will be posted soon . She's beautiful but she needs a lot of TLC. The bottom pulley seems to be buckled slightly, so the fan belt squeals which is really annoying as it masks that gorgeous sound of the 5 cyls. She needs a good polish and interior valet. And yes the front top mounts need doing, she makes a racket when she goes over speed bumps.Oh and a service. But apart from that she's FANTASTIC......

The fanbelt noise was there with my ABY when I bought it but, hey you were planning to do the belt changes anyway, didn't you. That should put it right. The belt cover needs a slight alignment only and here it comes, the inline 5 cyl music.

At what intervals should the cam belt be changed?? It had a belt change 40k miles ago at an Audi stealer-ship . Is it good for another 20k miles? or is that to long? All help greatly appreciated.

According to my Audi Service Book it says 80,000 miles. Personally I'd do it sooner than that just to be on the safe side but 80k must be OK.

Well you know...my point of view is that if you want to be relaxed when going for extended journeys, you may consider giving the car a treat with all the usual parts. I did pugs and belts and filters, also some of the bulbs, the stereo (hurraaaaa), the wheels (hurraaaaa too) and now the feckin aircon gave in....I had a collapse on one of my earlier cars due to belt tensioner collapse, so I may be allergic to this problem......

I'll change it at 60k then I think, just to be on the safe side.
Also, my wipers seem to be slightly 'off'. The drivers side wiper goes onto the 'a' post??? Any idea's? Is it just a case of repositioning the wipers? or a relay change? I seem to remember a post re this not long ago.
