I thought the same as you. Perhaps the previous owners perspiration was very corrosive when in direct contact with leather?

I thought that leather looks pretty worn too... I guess age is as much a factor as wear, it's probably never been treated and got dried and cracked. Would want authenticity on the miles though!

I love the RS2, it's one car that I'd swap my Avant for. If insurance for one hadn't been off tha charts I would have got one instead at the time... even now it's about double the cost of my S2 Avant even with the mods declared

That one in Newcastle that went for £9k came close to ending up in the family though, gutted it didn't, just not enough time to get the money...

Got to say after having driven Fitzy's avant last week....it handled brilliantly and the rear end stability was amazing

I don't believe mine has ever been treated and the drivers seat looks in better condition than that one with 105,000kms on the clock. If it was just age then the rears would look the same. I guess it could indicate a lot of short trips with the wear due to getting in and out all the time. Is that grey leather? Never seen that in an RS2 before.
