WANTED - 2.8 CQ Strutts

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a full set of 2.8 CQ suspension strutts. I don't require any shocks/springs, only the strutt bodies/tubes.

I have been searching for some time and have had no success to date. Unfortunately, as I'm sure many of you are aware the S2 strutts were not common with the V6 models and so only V6 parts will do I'm afraid. The diameter of the S2 strutt tube is a constant 54mm approx, whereas the V6 stutt tubes taper at the top to approiximately 50mm.

If anyone has a set they are willing to sell please send me a pm. Naturally I will be happy to arrange and pay for carriage.

My car is a 95 N-reg.

Cant help Im afraid matey but had a similar scenario on my 2.8CQ recenty, hence why my S2 coupe Bilsteins up for sale:

If you dont need/want S2 struts then anything from a late b4 chassis will do.

Scraped a pair only a few weeks ago...

That guy on ebay vwaudirecyclers or something like that has a few of them. AFAIK they are the same diameter shocks as a CQ20v but with the larger bolts to the hub carrier.

If your buying new shocks pick up a set of s2 struts and convert IMO.

I will check out ebay again but I don't have much confidence that most breakers know what they're actually selling.

Pete - Fear not your little collection is safely stored! If only they were a complete set I may have considered building some S2 spec coilovers. Let me know when you wanna pick them up. (In case anyone is wondering............. I bought I set of 2.8 V6 strutts from Pete but unfortunately to both myself and Pete's devastation someone had fitted 3 S2 suspension assemblies to the 2.8 CQ he was breaking. This only became apparent when I had received them)

Anyway, if anyone hears of anything becoming available give me a shout.

which s2 strut you missing? I "may" have a spare depending which one.

and my mate has some 2.8 cq one's as he broke 2x 2.8 cq's 07593804480 audipartz/joe

Thanks Acidburn, I'll give Joe a call tomorrow. It would be an absolute result if I could get hold of a set!

My plan is to build my own coilovers due to the huge cost and lead time of having KW do the honours. Once I have the strutts made up I'm simply gonna call their technical department and ask for the spring rates and spring lengths they use when building 2.8 CQ Variant 1's ......... and copy it with springs from RallyDesign, Demon Tweeks etc for a fraction of the cost (I already have shortened shocks).

With regard to the strutts I have in my possesion, since Pete (S2pete) reibursed me they actually belong to him. He does plan to do a similar thing however now he know they're S2 parts so I'll let him know you may have the missing corner.

Yeah he should have a set, the spare set I have I have packaged up and sending up to hibby as he had them from me.

if you could find out what strut is missing I may have one spare as i've got the odd part lying around
