I understand completely now mate, as time goes by it's enviable your going to get board with what at the end of the day is a fairly common (as Coupés go) car. A new purchase always gets the enthusiasm going and as you rightly point out quattros rule. Was a crap colour as well IMHO.

For the record I was eyeing up that V6 with a view to raping it for a few bit's then braking the rest. Just a bit too far away and I'm short of pocket money at the moment as I need to be able to fund a T81/85 80/90Q should one come along for the right (F all) money for my forthcoming sports shed project.

Good luck finding something interesting, it's a buyers market at the moment so it shouldn't take you too long.

Golf comes with the audi pepper pots, the BBS in the 3rd pic were too wide for the wide track front end.

Rusty - it is quick, the power seems endless, it pulls from about 1200rpm all the way to the redlile seamlessly, popped out in it with stevieyid from this forum on Tuesday, didnt go far prob about 5 miles, seemed to leave quiet an impression, he seemed to like it....

As this thread seems to have been slightly hijacked, I can get my hands on a very tidy set of the original Corrado VR6 five spoke speedlines alloys which would IMO look smashing on that Golf as well as fitting properly. For 1500 notes that cars a complete steal. I sold a 2.9 VR6 motor last year for a grand.

Yep i went out in the mental golf Brilliant car and it does as was said goes from 1200rpm all the way to redling with a fantastic engine note to. I can imagine on the b roads it would be all over the tail of cars with a lot more power. Great car mate

A question to you guys who have done the MK2 GTi - VR6 conversion....

How did it change the handeling of the Golf

As all that extra weight on the front must alter the way the car handles...

all the extra weight, 35kg is it, and as long as you use the correct spring rates, corrado vr6 is best as its the same chassis, it handles beautifully.... Best mod for these is the eibach front arb (vr6 one)

Theres a very well known myth in that the mk2 vr doesnt handle and suffers from copious understeer. Load of horlicks, based on cars that didnt change front suspension when they were converted. The vr is a relatively light engine taking into consideration its a nigh on 3.0 v6. Look how compact it is compared to a traditional v6 design
