    Are the rears really different?

If yr talking about 5 stud hubs, then Coupe front and rears are different sizes. Avant fronts and rears are the same, the Avant has a far superior rear suspension setup!

Depends on what you define as hub, the pressed in hub faces into the housing are the same front and rear on the Avant and the Coupe

Will have to disagree with that having stripped both, but hey we can agree to disagree!! When I'm talking hubs (or spindles as some folk call them) I mean the part you bolt the wheel to on its own, ie the part you press into bearings and the carrier. S2 Avant rear hubs are the exact same size as the front. Coupe hubs are different due to the carrier being completely different. This is also confirmed by a forum member from the US who bought my Avant hubs without checking and could not fit them on the rear of his coupe..... Clear as mud eh?? So you cant fit Avant rears in Coupe rears in my view, obviously they are all 5x112, and Avant Hubs with fit the front of a Coupe, what does everyone else think?????

Aren't the later rear axles equipped with 108mm inner cv's vs the 100mm of the US spec coupes? That is what I am looking for in the rear.

You only need the front axles, unless you are changing your rear diff.

secondly you can also change the "cups/flanges" in the 01e TDI that you have to use the 100mm CV joints on the stock axles, using parts that are sourced from US models...

This is what I was talking about. No reason to mess with the rear.

Car has V8 Torsen with the V8 108mm cups since the stock cups don't engage enough with the V8 torsen diff. This is the reason I am looking for the rears.
